One point that I would like to make is:

When I first started, I also got the normal harassment from the vets that you all seem to be talking about. STFU, noob, blah blah. all of that.

We all know how I managed to get that crap to stop. I let everyone know who they were dealing with. My age, the fact that I was learning, but I had to work harder because of my disabled situation, etc. I just used my normal abilities as a parent to make it clear that to treat me like crap was just not cool.

Younger, less articulate, and less confident incoming pilots are not going to be able to defend themselves

So in pook's defense on one subject, he has a point. It may be how they do things in a firehouse, or the military where our lives are literally in the newbie's hands, but this is a game. Not a place where it is a free for all to treat incoming pilots like @#(!.

Now insults are something that destroys the very thing that parents try desperately to build, Our children's self confidence.

Kudos Pook. And to the community. We are the ones who need to rise above this crap. We need to let folks know we want this game to not die. We want to keep playing and have fun. We cannot let crap like this destroy what many have worked hard to accomplish.

I love this game too damn much, I am sure many of you do too.

Some interesting discussion here... but can I say the word 'asshat' has been used way too liberally throughout this thread and I have henceforth revoked all your permissions to use that word.

I see a lot of 'if the asshats would just,'s, a lot of 'if you don't like it then leave's, a lot of 'no one has any rights to anything, it's the admins good will that runs the community'.

A lot of people don't contribute anything to Allegiance but playtime, a lot of people don't donate to the community. And then again, lot of people do/have. Is that not a form of 'buying stock'? A lot of people have stock in Allegiance, a vested interest.

Do these shareholders not deserve some say in how things are run, or should the only voice be those who hold the keys? I do agree in with what you are saying ('if you don't like things, you can leave'), it's true, you CAN leave. I do not agree with why it is being said. If people/shareholders/the community are trying to speak their mind and make a difference, should they really be cesured?

It's a pity. That is all. /ninja.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ninja:" border="0" alt="ninja.gif" />

Disgusting, Angering, and Pitiful.

You want to test and question the admins of the game, that were originally chosen by the people and have donated their time, money, and most of all the $#@!ing patience to deal with you retards.

It's very simple, We need players.
We loose enough we wont be able to hold a decent game outside of squad matches. Anyone remember this?:
academy wrote:The only problem was the fact that with so many new players joining such a small community, games often resulted in haivng a few veterans, who had years of experience, and newbies, who had only hours of experience of a particularly complex game. Veterans felt more than ever that the competitive days of yore were long gone. Indeed, even with only a handful of players, everyone could rely on anyone else. With the influx of new players, however, your last two interceptors to take out the HTT could be players who barely knew which button is used to fire the afterburner. The Allegiance Academy only partially solved this problem, giving new players a lot of information, but not a lot of practice nor a very deep understanding of Allegiance. Nonetheless, new players was the last problem the community had been having to face. The community being well aware that players were much needed, extreme but unwritten measures of respect were put in place to make the game as newbie-friendly as one can imagine, in the hopes that eventually, all those players will become talented pilots and commanders, and competition can finally be like it once was.
Would you rather talk about beer bongs or have some good games, we get enough players we get more commanders, more competent players, and it can be as it once was.
*sigh*
Let me put it the way I was told on other games as a moderator:
"The internet is full of potential players, countless numbers of people that are likely to find [our game]. It is our duty to assure that the majority rules on all accounts. This being said, if there are a few consistant troublemakers who have been givin a 2nd or even 3rd chance to straighten up, they do not need to be here. NO explanation is needed for these people."

Let's say your just joining now:
If you first boot up alleg and pop into the lobby with masta or anyone else just yelling about drugs or just bashing of newbies, you aren't likely to come back.

MUCH less when you join the game and get treated like a moron because you don't know anything, even though you took the time to do the training missions and read all of the academy.

Do you really think that because you have been here longer you are worth anything more than voobmcnoob?

Players are a DIME A DOZEN.
Why do you think you have to get your way? You're not a admin, all you do is join to the servers you don't pay for, play the game you didnt design, and weather down the mods who improve and police the game from the occasional stupid newb spammer.

God, you claim to be grown up?

You should all be banned and be done with you.
