Booting players for mistakes and not being very good is no longer viable, and hasn't been for some time. @#(!, you can turn a 5v5 to a 4v5 and totally $#@! the whole match.

This has got to be the STUPIDEST thread I have ever read. It has more drama than a bad soap opera.
Let me be the adult in the room and hopefully put an end to this.
Wasp is whining like a child - he has a good point: the game is broken. However, since he cannot fix the game himself nor get anyone else to fix the game, he will not get what he wants. He also seems paranoid regarding the motives of Kage. I think he is correct, but not for the childish reasons he espouses.
Kage - now there is something very strange going on here. Nobody plays this game anymore. So what would be the harm in rolling out a version with a new default keymap? The answer is "None".
But Kage is acting like a diva - straight out of "Housewives of L.A.". What is stopping Kage from simply offering a change to the code for a new default keymap? And why would a new default keymap be a prerequisite for fixing the issue(s) Wasp is complaining about? It seems to me that either Kage does not know how to fix the code, or does not want to fix the code. HOWEVER, since any such work would be voluntary on Kage's part, he does not need a reason. He will not fix the code.
There is no blame here other than this entire community is more dysfunctional than I could have ever imagined in the years since I left.
In all seriousness, we used to have threads like this, but they were JOKES. We would Fu@k with each other, but it was in fun. I am speechless and saddened at what has happened here. This community is toxic. It is broken beyond all repair.
I cannot save Allegiance, but I know how it can be saved - THE ONLY POSSIBLE WAY IT CAN BE SAVED:
STEAM is the only chance. Please hear me out. There are millions of players and it can take hold IF there is a way to get it on STEAM. The price point would be attractive (I do not know if it would still be FREE), and I do not know what the legal hurdles would be to get the game on STEAM. BUT if we could get STEAM to advertise a FREE game...
BUT before such an exodus could occur, I agree that the game would need to be as free of bugs as possible. That means a new, default keyboard layout should be determined and coded AND Wasp's concerns which I agree with (the game is buggy) would have to be fixed.
Now I can't do these things. I'm not a coder and am probably old enough to be the father of most on here. But I know there are a lot of good developers who have worked on Allegiance throughout the years. GOOD developers that worked for nothing because they loved this game and the community. So here we are with a decision: Do we let Allegiance die and become not a game, but a forum for trolls and angry personalities? Or do we give it one last chance and make a move so that Allegiance once again becomes, "The Best Game You've Never Played"? I can guarantee that one of these outcomes is certain.
It's been fun guys.

"My concerns"? I've been crusading since 2009 to revert that Dx9 blunder and it was to prevent the rapid decline of the community. The game engine is WRECKED at the very core of it's design (not buggy as you describe it). Imago has pretty much showed the reason why. Whether I'm "concerned" or anyone else, doesn't change that fact. It IS fixable, but will never be.
You've got it backwards btw...the game needs fixed FIRST, THEN you publicize it. As far as the default loadout, big deal, remap it, there's no new players who need a corrected default map anyway.

diva ? More like a guy who don't want to spend hours fixing something , releasing the code changes and then seeing nothing happening because no one here is really in charge of the next steps: building, testing and releasing the new build to everyone (aka the last steps of the "release pipeline"). That was my concern then and it still is. The 'new default keymap' was a simple test, it's easy to do, requires no code change, just showing that "someone is really in charge" of the release pipeline. and yet it's still not happening...
What is the point of doing voluntary work if it's just gonna end up in the code repository and no one will ever use it ?
Anyway that's in the past. 3 months ago I started "fixing" Alleg my own way : doing a solo game named 'Alephs', based on Alleg. My changes are and will remain public for now so anyone is free to backport them in the 'community' Allegiance.
