I got that when my Device drivers were incorrectly installed for my gfx card. Reinstalling the drivers fixed it....

The current beta saves two additional log files.
DeviceCreation.log
VideoSettings.log

Take a look at those. Updating/reinstalling video drivers may help.

Make sure your graphics card supports DX9

Thanks guys.I've been playing r4 just fine,so I assume the card supports dx9.I think next wed. I'll try my laptop and see if it can run the beta.

R4 doesn't use DX9 -(The R4 Alpha does, but thats different)......

Do you play any other DX9 games on it?

Did you download the latest drivers for your graphics card as Immz recommended?

I have the same problem, im using a 360 controller with the xbcd drivers (unofficial drivers) and today at the beta test the controller doesn't work. It works fine on R4.

The issue was, IIRC, Dx7 had no specific "controller" inputs so it registered as a joystick. Dx9 has controllers, and alleg isn't programmed for controllers

In the latest build on F6 you can't select Take Me To.. for drones, dunno about other players was by myself.

Means the only way to get drones out of base is by chat commands and tabbing
