You mean R(ocket)P(ropuslioned)G(renade)'s?

Well, the IC Anti-Tank is one.

And i believe the GroundSweeper is an indirect firing weapon...

as i understand it,

RPG, has a rocket on its projectile meaning it travels further/gets faster after it left the launcher. [similar to a rocket launcher]

grenade launchers work like normal guns, but they fire a grenade (timed/impact) instead of a bullet, this then begins to slow down after leaving the launcher due to air resistance as it has no on board propulsion like a RPG.

also, RPGs are generally less powerful than rockets [i.e. anti tank rockets]

need laser designator, both for laser guided rockets (could also have one built in to a rocket launcher), and for air strikes / long range missiles (either you fire the missile in the general direction, then it homes in on the first laser dot it spots, or you could select which player's laser dot you want it to go for)

ooh, GPS guided missiles (for atrillary) choose a spot on the map and it will fly there (up first, then fly down onto the spot), you need to guess where the enemy will be since it takes time for the missile to get there.

i did mention a tracking bug launcher a while ago, launches a GPS tracker device which sticks to whatever it hits, you can then either use it to follow something[see if they spot it], or use it to have GPS guided missiles home in on.

[note, where i have said GPS, make something else up that does the same sort of job, given these alien planets may not have a nice set of GPS satellites in orbit.]

I think you're badly mistaken, but if you get to the point where you actually need to worry about it, you're doing great.

By indirect fire I mean something that requires a trajectory to hit. Grenade launchers are like that over long distances. Anti-tank weapons and RPGs I consider as direct fire. If you wanted to make things interesting, make it so that artillery needs to act as a tank - 1 driver, 1 gunner.

Talking about this stuff just makes me want to play BF1942. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

we can just make it that you have only 2 flare shots with you, and the reload time is ridicilous for use in combat (shoot flare, then take another wapon and get the job done).

the laser targeting system could give co-ordintares to artillery! like bf1942

I think Data's point is that it's too CPU- or GPU-intensive to be worth it. Really, a sensor equivalent (sort of like a short-duration ballistic-trajectory probe, shot from a gun) might be easier. Perhaps overpowered though.
