Aside: I really enjoyed this HBO/Vice News documentary on the 2008 financial crisis. It's compelling stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... yz79sd_SDA
They do a good spin job on it, like "bailing out the big banks was necessary to prevent another great depression" which may or may not be true. Also some bull@#(! about how "US taxpayers ended up getting their money back as well as interest paid" when in reality the government kept that money. It's a good watch nonetheless.

who do you think it benefits in the end if the US governmenet, which taxes the population to pay for services, gets its money back?Dome wrote:QUOTE (Dome @ Jun 2 2019, 09:01 PM) Aside: I really enjoyed this HBO/Vice News documentary on the 2008 financial crisis. Obviously the US government benefits if the US government get its money back. And do you think everyone in the US backs what the government spends its money on? Real life example: US uses funds for bloated military budget or a border wall or to give kickbacks to their industry lobbyists, etc, etc... instead of recouping the pension losses of millions of Americans that did nothing wrong.Terran wrote:QUOTE (Terran @ Jun 3 2019, 04:01 PM) who do you think it benefits in the end if the US governmenet, which taxes the population to pay for services, gets its money back?

Capitalism suffers if the entire US/world finance system collapses. We've had this debate in previous thread. Simply kicking the can down the road until the next crisis borne out by greed is not sustainable. Using tax payer money to bail out banks is always just a short term solution. Lack of regulation in the markets will end up crippling us again.
okay cool, so what about the spending it does on infrastructure, policing, social security, medicare, welfare, education? i mean i know it does a @#(! job at it but it's still a big chunk of the budget. military is like 16%? of the total budget. (2015 values, so yes it has gone up a tad) so really, what you're saying is that you are only 16% upset that the US government has got its money back. that's pretty good approval ratings if you ask me!Dome wrote:QUOTE (Dome @ Jun 3 2019, 11:16 PM) Obviously the US government benefits if the US government get its money back. also, i really don't think you'd like your way of life right now if your government had let all the banks collapse. i mean, i would be alright, because world instability = job security for me, but the vast majority of people in the world would be preeeeetty damn pissed with you.

I've recently gotten involved with investing in start ups.
Low investments required with very high potential returns, if the start ups become successful.
I don't have enough time during the day to follow the market and I stumbled upon business start ups while searching the interweb.
So far I have thrown some money in on VSpatial, Mealthy, Convesio & CHRGR
I am also looking into Travelmate Robotics and Caribou.
