I kinda dislike leads, feels very un-alleg (Dunno when Masta went from the old XT "git gud, stop complaining" to the more Sf "no voob left behind D_:"Wasp wrote:QUOTE (Wasp @ May 20 2018, 09:05 AM) I'm senile
I had fun with all the fastcores, Weedcoredunnowhat and pcoreN°iterationtimes1000, would've been better if we got rid of QF3 a couple of centuries ago.
Anyway, i believe that you cannot balance the game, since it's main highlight is individual skill (i'm fine with this, it's what really makes the game a good thing), and all the small pieces of things that happens to be part of gameplay. So, core dev should go along that Noir idea of #TheFlavorOfTheWeek, to keep things interesting w/e.
Reason for edit: yeah English (how the $#@! can you write in it)

I've removed lead relay from entry level bombers, just waiting for the servers to be updated.
Htts do relay the lead, Weed.
I do like how the lead relay on bombers immediately changed the structure of bombing from stacking nans as much as possible to making actual combat ship escort higher priority, which was exactly what the intent was, it's just so $#@!ing abysmally stupid that the relay is based on scan range. I COULD bring scan range down on bbrs/htts, though I am planning on reintroducing gunships as a more accessible (garrison) tech and using that as the lead relay platform, after some re balancing.

There's a new sheriff in town.
I'm the great white shark. I've never changed. You may recall the first thing I did is pull out quickfire spam as the dominant "strat" for the game. Also restructuring bomb runs from mindlessly stacking nans to actually escorting and killing @#(! didn't make the game easier/more simple, it's just stupid in small games, but that's because small games are stupid, especially with bombers in the mix. Prior to my core it was just months of small game bombing, anyway.SumVeritas wrote:QUOTE (SumVeritas @ May 20 2018, 09:55 AM) I kinda dislike leads, feels very un-alleg (Dunno when Masta went from the old XT "git gud, stop complaining" to the more Sf "no voob left behind D_:"),

We aint, thats why we need something to complain about, and thats where the cores comes in. Easier to complain about the core, than to game mechanics, specially since they are the same since nearly 20 years?!phoenix1 wrote:QUOTE (phoenix1 @ May 20 2018, 06:02 AM) I guess what I'm suggesting is, give PCore016 a chance. Take a few flights, see how things feel. Be open to the idea that you might have to adjust the way you fly by boosting differently or whatever. I really think that when you approach the changes in a core as "a way to challenge myself and master the fundamental mechanics of Allegiance" you'll like it. I mean honestly I had no real major problems with Weedcore because if I'm good at Allegiance, I'll be good at Allegiance on weedcore.
Sumv, why all the qf hate? Leave my qf´s alone!!!
PS: I remember that when I started playing everybody used to say that qf sucked, and that it was an unusable techpiece because dumbfires and seekers were better. The only person that liked qf was larry, and everytime we played together he would fly with me just because I would buy him qfs and we could duo together and have tons of funs killing pp.
Now everyone complains about qf being unbanlanced, and so far the only change I ever remember on qf was made by virulence some years ago where he changed the DM damage (I dont even know what it does), but I dont think it was carried over any other core.
So why all this qf hate?

It was the combo of the fast cores + more maneuverable figs + QFs = all that proved to be too much. Plus Seek3 is such fun!!Archangelus wrote:QUOTE (Archangelus @ May 20 2018, 04:35 PM) We aint, thats why we need something to complain about, and thats where the cores comes in. Anyway, i just can't recall a core change that didn't end up in exploiting some tech path/gun/missiles/tactics/etc:
W/e IC back in the day of MS
Spidey's figbees
Night's rix lt ints and Belters in general (i miss XC,
P1's Dreg sup
Metz's leads
That's why i believe the whole idea of #FlavorOfTheWeek was great, it would've led to new exploits, but that would last just for a little while b4 getting replaced for the next one.
Edit: i also forgot Inept and Das's nerfing of everything GT plus the introduction of the broken TF models

If you're staring at the dot instead of your bullets once you've acquired the target, you're just being dumb. You won't become reliant on the lead by using it over time. If you hvae a problem with it blocking your view, just target something else and shoot the thing without all the crap in your face.Wasp wrote:QUOTE (Wasp @ May 20 2018, 09:05 AM) Depends on what you consider "better".
"and frankly", you're full of $hit. Leads trade off skill for ease of acquisition. Over time, you will become reliant on the lead and will suffer without it. Moreover, it's horribly inaccurate at close range and blocks the view so that you can't see your bullets striking your target.
The only thing useful about lead is when you're in a swarm where target acquisition is faster.
That said, I entirely agree with P1 here. Leads are not good for the game.

QF are the pratically the same since DN, so I honestly didnt get your point, because:SumVeritas wrote:QUOTE (SumVeritas @ May 20 2018, 06:56 PM) It was the combo of the fast cores + more maneuverable figs + QFs = all that proved to be too much. Plus Seek3 is such fun!!
A)Faster and more manouvrable figs aren´t complained when paired with dumbs/seekers (wich in theory are better missiles), so I truly cant understand how faster figs in general combined with qf would make a deadly combo, specially since avoiding a qf spam isnt all that difficult, unless you are in a furball and dont know who is spamming them (but then it would be difficult with every missile);
I am really curious about this, because me and larry were basically the only players who liked to use it. And now there is a bandwagon of hate for it like its a cheating piece of tech.
PS: I even remember getting booted once because I suggested someone to buy qf´s.
