Imago is already aware of this. He is the one who created the "work a rounds".

I think the problem is related to the Time Step. If I'm not mistaken, R4 had a fixed time step locked to vsync.

"To understand what is going on consider a situation where the display framerate is 60fps and the physics is running at 50fps. There is no nice multiple so the accumulator causes the simulation to alternate between mostly taking one and occasionally two physics steps per-frame when the remainders “accumulate” above dt.

Now consider that in general all render frames will have some small remainder of frame time left in the accumulator that cannot be simulated because it is less than dt. What this means is that we’re displaying the state of the physics simulation at a time value slightly different from the render time. This causes a subtle but visually unpleasant stuttering of the physics simulation on the screen known as temporal aliasing."


I'm only guessing at what the problem is. Only a programmer would know.

Wasp I just logged onto the R8 Beta server to test it out (no issue connecting).

I was alone and the first thing I noticed is you cannot launch a solo game anymore.
Any chance this can be changed? I know it is handy for testing and commander practice.

I'm online now. It appears BT has fixed the single team game issue. I can create a single team game.

Unable to launch

could not open the artwork file C:/program files/microsoft games/allegiance 1.3/beta/artwork/font.mdl

edit: didnt realize it was just a portion of the files, installing main installer

edit 2: beta installer looks inside the 1.3 folder, it should look in 1.2 folder. Even copying everything over and changing where the shortcut looks doesnt seem to fix it...

edit 3: in addition installing beta through launcher doesnt work either, also presents the above error with the bonus of not being able to enter the lobby due to skipping authentication, which is simply untrue.

I'll be standing by waiting for answers, thanks.

Hi Nater,

Beta will reside in the 1.3 folder. After you use the installer from the beta link, you will see a new red allegiance icon on your desktop, you must use that to launch the beta (it passes a command line to the allegiance client to tell it to run in beta mode).

Hi Paps,

You cannot launch a single player game from the running main zone game, you will need to create a new game on the CSS server, and then you can launch that single player.

Had the F4 crash, just installed new installer, and now the lobby only shows a CSS game with 2000 players, which I can't join. If I create a game it either won't have any teams (starwars core) or it tells me it is out of sync and to delete the fileslist.txt, which I have tried and doesn't fix anything. Will try to find the older installer and see if I can get back on now.

Uninstall that, goto the link I posted in the "log in" thread and install that one, run it from the desktop shortcut it creates
