LOL, how much time do you think a programmer will give you for that measly amount?
ok then, he's not forced to do it for free.
That's what i can afford.

You simply don't see that your offer was not an offer but instead, an insult.
Imago has put more time into programming Allegiance than most have put into playing it. He didn't do it to be controlling or to manipulate anyone. He programmed crap that the community insisted on even though he knew it was not proper or appropriate. He did this all for FREE and even put it on github for anyone to claim and use without so much as a "thank you" for his efforts.
...and you offer him an insult to do more than he's already done?
You can't treat volunteers that way. They do the things they do because their heart is in it.

ok
1 by doing more i intended for him to port, here what he already did.
2 I obliviously did not mean it as a insult.

"Hey Imago, take everything you did and give it to me on my terms for me to control so I can then discard you like a cheap ho. Oh, and here's 50 cents for the bus ride home."

Programmers are not cheap. Especially talented ones. And a patient one to boot? You're looking for a $#@!ing unicorn at this point.
It'd be a significant investment of time for a programmer -- any programmer -- just to come up to speed on the project, let alone do anything productive.
And as far as I can tell, no one knows what "finish R8"
actually means -- in terms of specific work items. I'm half convinced that R8 doesn't need any programmers, it needs a PM.
My advice is to save your money. Trying to hire outside help is tantamount to setting cash on fire. Either someone within the community works on R8 out of a pure love of the game (or of programming) -- or it doesn't get done at all.
For the record, I have no interest in working on R8 personally.

R8 isn't going to get players. Players are going to get players; this is Allegiance's strength and weakness.
Let's worry about making sure the game gets played instead of developing one that isn't.

Game is broken in many ways that prevents ppl from playing. Development is essential.

^^ (deathrender's comment)
If you want to fix Allegiance, the best way to start would be to go find out these pieces of information and post graphs of them on General.
Unique visitors over the past 6 months (both websites).Downloads over the past 6 months.New account creations over the 6 months.Attach rates for new account creations (histogram of number hours of played 3 days, 7 days, one month, and three months after account creation).
Then we can begin to have a productive, data-driven discussion over what metrics are lagging and what we can reasonably do to improve them. Going forward, we use that data to ensure that our initiatives actually are effective.

We have a helpline to deal with shortcomings of compatibility. We lack the same with getting people to play. (Besides the forum itself)
Development is essential, I agree. Though with limited funds, we can't have our milk and our cookies. Hold on wasting funds on a dev that won't help and spend them somewhere more useful when it comes around. The biggest need of a game is to have players.
If we can get a dev that is worth the investment that makes it so R8 gets us more players instead of get advertisement that is worth the investment, then I support it. I'm not saying "Dump R8 out the window, it's useless to us", I'm saying that our resources are better spent on keeping an influx of new players. We haven't had an influx of new players in... how long? Someone enlighten me on that one, I honestly don't know.
R8 will have a better time being released when we actually have a substantial and active player base again.
In a perfect world, Imago and PKK wouldn't be at ends with each other with development and all of these "We need X and Y in Alleg" posts would be more helpful.
I like Imago and PKK both, but this conflict is a big hindrance to the game and community as a whole. This issue is something money won't solve, but is the best resolution to development problems.
tl;dr version: Development is a problem, but player base is a bigger problem and requires our full attention.

Strongly disagree. The game wasn't any less broken or less dated eight years ago when we had a thousand people on the leaderboard.
Development is good, but I highly doubt it's the reason we're in the place we are today.
