Pick up games it varies quite a bit - anything from Molly Hatchet to Weird Al to John Lee Hooker to Tom Petty's "you don't know how it feels"

I'm with you on rap - some nice, smooth TI (or any ATL rapper) can help you hone in your senses. Don't make fun, but some good ol Daft Punk can get the job done.
Also, vague Alaskan band reference, but 36crazyfists is good when you're flying in a bad mood.
