The only squad affected by this is RT btw, oh and your own squad since you have 21 active
Freaking @#(! won't upload .gif files
Actually 4 squads had to combine the entire league this past year and they still some times had to forfeit due to not enough players. Thus, you are very very wrong.
Yes, my squad would have to cut members. For the betterment of the community that is ok by me.

I don't think inactive squads damage Allegiance in any real way.
Frankly IMO I think inactive squads are the least of Alleg's worries.
Edit :
To clarify, if a squad is pretty much inactive, I doubt disbanding it officially from Alleg.'s point of view will make any of those players who aren't playing already, come back to the game in any substantial way.
And the few active players in pretty much inactive squads are always free to move right now, so I can't see why they would automatically join another squad if the squad was disbanded.
because if they want to remain at all in squad play, it will force them too. Not to mention it's been in the allegiance bylaws for over 10 years that squads must field 10 to become squads.

I would be agreeable to this. However, I would see that this might also piss people off if they are not able to get into the squad they want to because of the cap.
-I asked that the number for this determination be reduced to 7 ( in favor of our current community size).
If we have more of a squad balance, this number should be able to stay at 8 or more.
-Disbanded squads/cut members from squads would be able to form new squads and keep us from our impending allegiance doom at least until my star citizen comes out :-).
This would open it up to create a couple new squads or revitalize some of the older squads. GB / SPQR / etc...
Definitely worth having an open discussion. What kills a game is all of the good players flock to the squads who win the most and then those lesser squads loose interest in the game because they can hardly win, so why waste the time. Then it will only be a couple of sqauds left to play which they will loose interest because they play the same squad every week. If we evened out the squads, the game would become much more interesting again. We also need to tone down some of the ego's. That also gets annoying and makes people not want to play or fly for someone. I care a lot about this game. It is a really good game and for it to be around for over 10 years means something. Don't let it die.
Agree,
I came back from my last deployment to see my squad had almost doubled in size. We had already been the top squad for several years at that point... but we didn't need to recruit all that talent. We should have spread it out.

I roflmao'ed.
So you plan on leaving SysX soon to even out the talent then? Or Brood....Or Sheff...or Terran?
You have the right sentiment, the wrong community.
I would love to do a relationships survey amongst all squads to see if their Allegiance squad service dedication mirrors their personal relationship service. I reckon it would be an exact match.

Not sure what part of my post you are referring to. But I don't see that as making sense.
If a squad is inactive the players in that squad
are not getting "squad play" now.
How would disbanding their current squad encourage them to suddenly seek out "squad play" in another squad? Something they don't appear to be too interested in at this minute?
You are right on the rules for forming a squad, but there was never any formalised rules on disbanding squads.
As I understood it the whole idea of the rule was to stop the forming of frivolous squads which waste admins time in setting them up.
There is no effective cost in leaving an "inactive" squad hanging around from my point of view.

What if we take it down to 2 major squads. Ni and SysX. Other squads will no dis-band, but their members will also be able to fly for on of the 2 majors. If a non major squad can field 10 players, they can then schedule to go against one of the 2 majors.

Sorry but you are wrong. The senate passed over a year ago that they must disband. The admins just need to enforce it.

As I write this there is 1 person on NOAT in main. I did a tech dev game by myself for 30 min and no one logged in to allegiance. Maybe I'm just fighting a war that's already been lost. Apparently people just want to bitch about it instead of enforce rules that we already passed in Senate and "ATTEMPT" to keep the game going a little longer. The thing that perplexes me is for all the views this thread has gotten and the responses... I see none of these people in game.
Do you not like the game anymore? Or you just talk on the forums for social community interaction. Really? What gives?

Fair enough. I haven't kept up to date on Alleg. politics for more than a year. And I didn't really see a thread about it.

I haven't really felt the inclination to fly recently.
Honestly from my point of view spending too much time organising stuff and dealing with some of the game's more ridiculous people put me off playing as regularly.
I like the community. The people here are quite fun. I hang around to see if I can be inclined to play again.
Even though I don't play, I'd like to see the game grow again, but I've no idea why you think disbanding squads which are already pretty much completely inactive will make the game grow in any way.
The main problem for Alleg. is the same one that has been around for several years - not enough
new people are playing the game. And certainly not enough to replace the players who just naturally waste away from playing (as you will get in every single other game).
Whoever wants to make Allegiance survive and grow needs to get New players in somehow, and get them into fun games which will make them want to stay.
Tinkering with rules and messing with the embers of the community that's already here won't change the essential problem I mentioned above.
