Its funny in 2000 when this game was released by MS I don't remember any training or easing new players into the game.

You either got it and loved it or you didn't
I miss those first weeks of me playing, screwing up and verbalgynt booting me and then my 30 minute tyraid cussing him out to which he ignored and prob had a good laugh

Oh how I long for the old days

Its far from the same. The game is no longer unknown and exciting to me. Just the same ol @#(! every game. Yes I have played a few games in the last week. Nothing but killiing miners bombing or cappin bases. Been there done that

Spending my time reading another book on Winston and watching Downton Abbey

Lol

I played a 4 vs 4 RPS game tonight. Commander yelled for bombers and I took an assault bomber with lp9 and capped the enemy pali and they resigned. Fun 5 minutes then I logged off and watched an episode of The Mentalist.

So who is RedJohn?

Yeah there is a premade black and white flyer kicking around somewhere. I can't easily dig it up ATM but I'm sure some of the old marketing guys can pipe in.

Only problem with CTF was that your only legit options were Dreg, Gigglecorp or Belters.

Have CTF and DM been removed from the game? If i create a game i am not able to change the game type?

Feriol: sure you can. But you'll be bored out of your mind with CTF (see below)

I'd say that's underestimating it quite a bit.

First problem is it needs quite a few players to be fun and at that point you have enough for a conquest.

Second problem the ship types don't really map too well to what you need to do and the open space isn't a very good environment to do CTF. I played Quake & Quake 2 CTF for years in a clan and there was a @#(!TON of using the level to your advantage to avoid detection and enemy fire, and also killing the enemy without taking damage yourself or quickly recovering with a medikit and continuing your assault. Doesn't work in Alleg.

Third is having two flags - I don't know what's up with that but it makes defending the flag way too manpower intensive for smaller game sizes (literally you gotta park a GS or whore on each) and you also need to pretty much dedicate a guy to proxing each aleph.. not very dynamic.

I think it's worth trying as a change of pace from conquest when the server is crowded to see what (if any) gameplay options emerge, but small games are pretty damn worthless.
