not 100% sure of this, but doesn't locking your missiles increase the countermeasure resistance?

If it does, how does that actually work? There's a CM resistance for all missiles, and I don't know if the lock% acts like some sort of multiplier.

Each missile type has a CM resistance, and it remains the same regardless of lock. The only thing lock alters is how well the missile leads the target.

There are two half-factors that haven't been mentioned in this thread, so I'll bring 'em up because I'm pedantic like that.
- Quickfires have a very high turn rate, so even when firing unlocked at a laterally moving target, as soon as they go past they'll pull a near-right-angle turn and folllow the target around like a tail

- CMs get a spoof roll against every missile tracking the ship at the time. If you're firing a qf every 0.25 seconds, there's a good chance your whole rack will be spoofed at once. If anything, slow enough for a lock simply so you've still got something to hit him with while his counters rearm.

As frightening as it is for me to say, in this one case, I agree with Mastametz.

QFs = Immediate Interceptor Ballistic Missiles.

Hence forth referred to as IIBMs, which are very similar to ICBMs, but these are smaller and angrier (meant for murdering interceptors, not continents)

QFs are what immediately make a fighter superior to a same tech level interceptor, regardless of skill.

Dumbfires? Not very dumb - you need to be smart to use those, so $#@! that! They home in, despite being supposedly "Dumb" fire. Those are for murdering bombers or something. I don't give a @#(! about those guys, they're slow and don't kill bases half the time, so $#@! that.

IIBMs, on the other hand, are immensely intelligent on their own.

Guaranteed damage, with or without lock, in about 50% of all battles (this is counting battles without missiles). I've done the math here, it's flawless.

When I'm in my Super Baller Enhanced Belter Fighter (from now on referred to as "SBEBF"), and I have FOUR RACKS OF QUICKFIRE MISSILES, I know I'm going to murder at least 4 things, several of which might actually be enemy ships.

And thus, I once again, prove both myself and my tactics to be superior, this time with MATH.

To recap:

(SBEBF) x 4(IIBM) = 4

BALANCE THE EQUATION WE JUST WENT OVER THIS YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SOLVE THIS PEMDAS ETC.

You all get D's regardless of how well you do on this assignment. I'm not grading on a curve. D for Dumb, as in, you're Dumb cuz you use Dumbfires, as opposed to IIBMs, which kill everything half of the time, all of the time.
