I just renamed it like you said and it seems that id doesn't change anything. Beta mode works but not the "normal" mode.
The only way to solve my problem is to ask everybody to play on the beta... ;)

Edition
In fact, I think I got this crash since the auto-update that occurred a few days ago. Before that, I think it worked quite well. Any idea?

Harmless test: Go to your artwork folder and delete the following files:
fig15b.mdl
fig15b.cvh
cc_13c.igc

Then back to your main allegiance folder and delete the file
filelist.txt

And restart Allegiance. I doubt this will make a difference.

Unfortunately, it didn't work either. But I couldn't delete the file filelist.txt as there is no such file in my folder Allegiance (I even search through the folder and subfolders).
Can it be the explanation?

I tried the beta mode again ; it works. God dammit, is there a big difference between these two files modes?

Nope.

Have you installed a new program lately? Maybe you should try to restore a previous system restore point, that one helped a few people in the past.

Change the "USER" permissions on the Allegiance folder to "Full Control" and give it a shot.

If that doesn't work...

1. Download and install CCleaner

2. Uninstall allegiance using the Uninst.exe in the allegiance folder then delete the allegiance folder itself. (Get rid of beta too).

3. Reboot computer into safe mode (press F8 key just before you see the windows splash screen at boot up).

4. Start CCleaner and click the analyze button then the clean button.

5. Click "Registry" on the left panel and then click the button "Scan For Issues" then click the button "Fix Selected Issues", when prompted, save a backup of the registry. Then another popup will appear, select "Fix All Selected Issues".

6. Repeat step 5 until you no longer have any "issues" :D

7. Reboot into normal mode and reinstall allegiance by right clicking and installing "As Administrator". You then might need to change the permissions on the alleg folder (right click/properties/security tab) so as to allow "USERS" to have "Full Control"

Actually no, I didn't install any program, but I remember that I got an auto-install last time I played Allegiance. I don't know if that has anything to do with the crash, though.

I also did what you recommended to me, jbansk, and I got something a little bit different:

1. First, I launched Allegiance in "normal" and got a crash.
2. Then, I tried the beta mode and it said allegiance.exe had something wrong with the signature. The program asked me if I wanted to "repair", I said yes (I had to do it again because I didn't start ASGS "as an administrator".
3. I tried again the beta mode, it worked.
4. I tried again the normal mode, it crashed.

I don't understand why the beta mode is fine!!??!?
Perhaps the ones who worked on the beta know the difference between these two allegiance.exe (normal and beta). The problem must be somewhere between the two.

Beta uses different Visual Studio runtime DLLs.

So, should I reinstall Visual Studio? Which one?

Allegiance uses the dlls of Microsoft.VC90.CRT folder, if that folder doesn't exist, it uses the ones of installed Visual Studio Resist 2008 in Windows Side-by-Side folder (installation requierd).

By the way, on "details", I get this:

...
16/12/2011 11:00:36: No polls
16/12/2011 11:00:36: Logged In
16/12/2011 11:00:36: Launching Allegiance
16/12/2011 11:00:37: Active
16/12/2011 11:01:01: Allegiance exited with code: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
16/12/2011 11:01:01: Creating Crashfile

Allegiance gets excited, at least. But why would be this access violation?

Edit
I reinstalled the game but didn't repair the Allegiance (beta mode) and launched it directly; it said"can't find ripicordbmp.mdl", something like that. So I repaired Allegiance with ASGS and it worked.
I'm still having the same problem. Can I use the beta mode and connect to the normal server?

p.s.
By the way, I have teamviewer if somebody is interested in helping me online...
