Sadly I can see this happening - *however* only if they avoid NZ in the quarter-finals. This probably means finishing top of their group, which is no foregone conclusion. There seems to be way too much optimism in the media after they finally had ad recent 6 nations for the first time in ages. They aren't world beaters crushing all before them, like they were pre-2003. They're merely on a par with France & Wales.
I'm sure there's going to be at least one shock result in the group stage, maybe Italy-Ireland, or Wales-Samoa/Fiji (again), perhaps Scotland beating England (not sure how much of a shock that would be but you'd get good odds at English bookmakers...).
Finally I think Australia could be pretty good if it clicks - they have lots of exciting youngsters coming through.
