are you serious? there is a bill for that? thank god these people don't design buildings or cars or airplanes

Was. (It didn't pass but it was close. It was proposed in 1897 or something like that.)
I think it's dumb, either way with out pi would there be the other?
lets have a measurement and lets double it and completely disregard the first and proclaim the second one proficient for all measurements, or is there something I'm missing? Or is it complete bull crap?
Interesting read, most definitely no bull crap. The definition of pi is (in my opinion rightly so) criticized as complicating mathematical expressions more than when we would use the double of its value. A lot of formulas use a factor of 2*pi somewhere.

Just tell them to write τ=2π at the start of their working for each question involving PI - the examiner can't fault them then (by claiming that tau is undefined where as pi is)
You've clearly never taught high school students
"Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." -2 Cor 12:9 "Never know how long I've waited, anticipated your smile pressed against mine." -Running
Cross sectional area of pipes/columns. I already have a 1/4pi factor in there, no matter to me if it's a 1/2tau factor.
Roof pitch. Oh yes please give me architectural plans that show a roof pitch of 0.196tau. Not only will I love you, but the builder will too!
Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.
Heh, I rather agree with Juckto although intellectually tau makes more sense I'd forever be translating it back and forth in my head. Same reason radians never took over from degrees.
Spidey: Can't think of a reason I'd need to know anything
