Saw Thor yesterday. Very good. Very funny too, extremely funny, and yeah, the story was a cut above what Marvel has done lately. Satisfyingly bittersweet ending, great dialog and chemistry between the characters and enjoyable fight scenes.

Sadly I sat in the very second row of the theater so it was painful keeping up with some fights.

Yes it was. There is a totally superfluous bratty assistant character which made me cringe. She has no purpose, wastes screen time and is just a source of idiotic whining about her ipod and such nonesense. A rare bad mark on a very fine movie.

The director seems to have taken a Wagnerian approach. Just the right amount of high opera pathos and pompous stage sets. This is mixed with very good situational and warm hearted humour that reminds me of the actual Thor comics. Excellent work.

As far as a straight boy's opinion counts, the actors for Thor and Loki were pretty enough to convincingly play young gods. That's a definite bonus. Despite that they weren't brainless pretty boy's, but actually were doing some damn fine acting. Especially the guy playing Thor is such a ridiculously pumped up hunk that it's a surprise to see him do the soft spoken and genuinely soulful scenes :o That alone was worth the price of the ticket! Loki is, if possible even better.

So yes, go see Thor. Take your wife / hubby / GF / we're-just-friends-honestly-best-mate along, even if he/she/it doesn't normally like superhero movies. This one is genuinely good.

I don't recommend the 3D. It's starting to feel more and more like a gimmick to me, and I don't think it really added anything worth the eyestrain and the weight of the glasses to the movie.

It would seem that this just adds a bit of reality to the picture.

I've not seen a single 3D moviemovie in 3D yet and I don't plan to. It's not like I see in three dimensions in the first place. Sound is much more important and is generally really nice anyway. I mean, what's easier, watching a movie with no sound (and not necessarily any subtitles) or listening to a movie without video?

Anyway, I saw the movie per kevk's recommendation and I thought it was pretty good, but not much more than entertaining. A problem I'm starting to have with movies though is they are just too short, and I'd say Thor falls into that category.

After this disastrous movie she went from GF to Let's just be Friends!

Movie sucked, my eyes hurt from the 3d glasses, at least Hercules in New York was actually funny!

I've seen it twice in 2D and one in 3

Who isn't? I am still angry with her though, that she is pregnant by another man.

I'm willing to work past that.
