I like...

I completely agree re: intro vid's disadvantages.

The Dreg ship has to go... we got so many cool looking ships to choose from, I wouldn't presume to recommend one.
If this goes up, I'll make grab some upgraded gfx screenies.

If you're not following my point - we already have a screen shots only page, but we have no videos page, if the link is changed to how it is currently and the video is removed from the front page then that leaves no immediately accessible videos for people to watch.
Um, madp... how about just adding the damn videos to the page then????? :D My point is, there is no need to make people who are looking for visual content of the game to go to two separate links or to crowd the page. I could understand if we had PAGES of videos and screenshots, but we don't.

I've always been in favor or replacing the video. I like Space's idea of using rotating screenshots. The mock-up looks very good. I'd just wish we can tie in the front page template with the rest of this site. It's very bland with no personality. Reminds me of my X-Wing Alliance clan days!

I'm happy for there to be a page with videos and screen shots, but http://www.freeallegiance.org/screenshots/ is currently screnshots only, and changing it to a generic media page requires some movement on TE's part, but TE will just say "I'll do it, tell me what you want to put up", so someone like goldie in hie alter-ego cookie will make a thread asking for better screenshots and good videos to include, which will go dead for a few months and then eventually will be declared closed and TE will make the changes.

I'm just looking to avoid the situation we have now where the videos link points to screenshots. And adding a http://www.freeallegiance.org/videos/ page in addition sounds like less work because it means no changes have to be made to the screenshots page (though it could do with screen shots with the highres mods on).

I tend to like having separate sections - if only so I can watch the videos first to see if it is interesting, then if it is, look at the screen shots to see what it looks like when actually playing.

I like the looks of the redesign much better. Just be wary of the block-o-text approach. That was what we had on the original home page and was sort of the catalyst for the change (which I started, NEVER FORGET!!! =P). Not that this page is a block-o-text, but you're veering in that direction. I like the redesign, though. Very good job =)

I would also like to point out that the Starcraft 2 advertisement page uses a "tabs" approach, like I was trying to do. So suck it, biatches =P

The theme looks better than the current homepage, which I never liked. But this is WAAAY too busy. There are 15 (!) links there. As I've had in some of my concepts it is MUCH better to have some kind of "Get Started" or similar link where it takes you to a new page with step by step instructions on how to get the game, make an account, start playing, etc. That could eliminate so many links you have there and make it look much cleaner. You shouldn't need more than like 3 links: Getting Started, Community, and some link that takes you to more video, screenshots, awards, and reviews.

The buttons don't look balanced at with some having descriptions and some not. However the descriptions there seem pointless/obvious so I would just remove them.
