Booting a newbie unless he is actively working against the team is against our rules. It is there to protect new players against what has happened to you.
If this occurs again, please log back in and look for someone wearing an @Alleg(eg ?RedMatter@Alleg) tag and inform them of what happened so it can be dealt with appropriately.

Apologies if you were booted for no reason, the game as you can tell is a tense one and commanders sometimes get overzealous and caught up in the moment, making them act first and think afterwards. I hope this does not ruin your thoughts about Allegiance and you continue to fly with us. :)

Damn you NJ and your posting faster than me!

What is your leaderboard name (so we can check your rank). Booting of newbies will result in the offender cooling his heels with some bantime.

Welcome to the game. Don't let the bad manners of a few spoil your fun.

TheBlackClap,

I cannot comment on what went on in the game you were booted from. I don't know what went on there, I was on the other team. From me megre perspective, boots are generally justified - and just about everybody in this game has been on the recieving end of one.

P.S. I think you got booted for posting resign or something.

That said, I find it odd that you accuse the community of being rude, considering the marbles coming out of your own mouth lately. Cast not the first stone, I think they say.

Just to back up my words, here is an example of the facts behind what I say. It's long and boring so feel free to skip this part of my post. There are more logfiles where that came from.

(1) arroz puts turret in cargo to keep TheBlackClap from raising his signature and getting the bomber eyed, gets hostile response from his trigger-happy turret:

Code: Select all

11/03/10 15:09:17: TheBlackClap(0) (command): you dumb
11/03/10 15:09:20: TheBlackClap(0) (command): arroz
11/03/10 15:09:26: Deep40000@ACE (Team 1): They don't see me.

11/03/10 15:09:54: TheBlackClap(0) (command): you suck arroz

11/03/10 15:10:38: TheBlackClap(0) (command): I can't use my turret
11/03/10 15:10:38: TheBlackClap(0) (command): wtf
11/03/10 15:10:49: TheBlackClap(0) (command): can't use my turret

11/03/10 15:10:51: Arroz@GB (Team 1): i tuned it off
11/03/10 15:10:51: TheBlackClap(0) (command): NPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
11/03/10 15:10:56: TheBlackClap(0) (command): what
11/03/10 15:10:57: TheBlackClap(0) (command): why?

11/03/10 15:11:05: TheBlackClap(0) (command): what
11/03/10 15:11:05: TheBlackClap(0) (command): why

11/03/10 15:11:07: TheBlackClap(0) (command): this is lame
11/03/10 15:11:09: TheBlackClap(0) (command): let me kill something

11/03/10 15:11:22: TheBlackClap(0) (command): I hate arroz
11/03/10 15:11:25: TheBlackClap(0) (command): massive douchbag
11/03/10 15:11:27: Arroz@GB (Team 1): ^^

11/03/10 15:11:29: Arroz@GB (Team 1): just wait man
11/03/10 15:11:34: TheBlackClap(0) (command): for what
11/03/10 15:11:34: Arroz@GB (Team 1): we cant shoot now

People don't like new players coming in and being loud or thinking they know everything about the game. I wish we could let newbies know that they're better off keeping their heads low until they lose their number. Otherwise people find them annoying and wish they would just stfu and go away.

As a side note, I'd recommend AGAINST posting in the CC forum about adding a totally awesome new faction while we're at it.

Another problem is that people might think you are a returning vet. If a vet buys a new computer and hasn't played for awhile, they might register a different name and start over at rank (0). People can tell by actions and comments in game that you are a returning vet. Even if you aren't, they may suspect it and boot you for stuff they expect you to already know. That is still no excuse, as they are supposed to respect rank to (4) like mentioned above.

I have booted HJ_KV once or twice because I know he's a returning vet. Should I have been banned?

TheBlackClap wrote:QUOTE (TheBlackClap @ Nov 6 2010, 07:00 AM) Okay I get that for sure, I didn't know; wold be nice since I am obviously new (2) that they would state that rather than boot me right before i am about to make contact with my bomber. Was very rude the style in which I was booted.

I just have to deal with it, thanks for the replies :)
I'm sorry to hear that you were booted. We actually have a longstanding rule that newbies aren't allowed to be booted; even though you can simply register a new account and come back (up to a total of three accounts), it's not allowed, because we try to be newbie friendly. The comm has been reported to enforcement, the situation will be reviewed and action will be taken if appropriate.

That said, I understand the commander's frustration. Commanders are very careful about who they allow to fly bombers, because if a bomb runs goes without the necessary escort, or if it gets detected early because the standard precautions weren't taken, then it tips the enemy off to the commander's strategy, and makes subsequent bomb runs harder or even impossible to execute. When they give out money for rescue probes they don't expect you to embezzle that money to buy bombers. In this case the commander is partly to blame for approving the rest of the money, but sometimes that is accidental on their part.

This is something that arguably can be classified as "deliberately sabotaging the team", which is not protected and you will get a boot no matter what your rank. Many comms will still try to warn you, but if you are about to cause imminent damage and there's not enough time for a warning, or if it appears you are not following their instructions to stop and teleport back home, you'll get a very quick boot.
