for me it's simple:
on TS i can't hear a thing.
mumble works well.
mumble >> teamspeak
mumble vs teamspeak
I personally like Ventrilo out of all of them, but it has lag issue when the server and player are on two different continents. Mumble seems to mitigate the issue somewhat but at a cost of voice quality.
So if I had to choose between FAO TS and Mumble I would go with Mumble. The voice quality is just miles apart.

I found
TS to be somewhat low on voice quality, but easy to set up room permissions, and such
Ventrilo has ok voice quality, some useful interface stuff (can change individual volumes and the chat works better) but an overall annoying, bloated interface.
Mumble has the best voice quality, helps you set up your mic correctly ( and automatically adjusts the volumes of people that can't figure it out ), built-in overlay, and the overall best interface. The only thing I don't like is setting up room permissions.
I haven't looked at which uses the smallest footprint.

Out of TS3, Vent and Mumble i'd go with mumble, even with all of its many annoying flaws!
I decided to relive the days gone by in my new blog.

Except the big about dorjan being jelly, that's just spidey's ego.

The community disagrees with you
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

My apologies.
Oddly enough I actually prefer TS, it makes Night's voice more manly.

Vent is for rent only. $#@! that. Seriously.k10xbai wrote:QUOTE (k10xbai @ Sep 2 2010, 03:08 PM) Vent is the only true thing.
Mumble permissions are easy. Admins:
1. MAKE PEOPLE REGISTER TO THE MUMBLE SERVER. Register them yourself if needed.
2. Right click on the root channel, pick Edit
3. Manage groups there, and only there (2nd tab, only use the first and second boxes)
4. Give permissions on a room by room basis to the groups you defined at root level. (3rd tab)
Room by room groups are for special use only...

Regardless of what the community poll says, Steel Fury will continue using Mumble. Sorry.
