My faction:
Turrents on all bases.
Special ship: mobile turrent base - model: outpost max speed : 30 mps, it has 4 turrents. The so called red door turrent has no gun, but can ejects as hvy int instead of pod.

The idea I've had in the back on my mind is a faction with no ops. Instead you build a tech base and that allows lt <tech> bases that are built on normal rocks. If you lose the main techbase the lt version preserves your level 2 tech.
I can't think of any way in which this doesn't shaft exp though.
They'd probably start with an escort fig which would be a lt int/fig hybrid (minis, booster, slow, rip).

Id have a fuel button! (jump button)
u can boost as normal through any given sector but let's say u see a miner! u would reload fuel! hold down your (jump button) and suddenly your fuel goes down to zero! u release your key and suddenly u realise u were just fired from 1 side of the setor to the other but only as far as a normal boost would allow you to travel, but with an exra advantage! faster momentum when u exit the jump, 600mps slowing down SLOWLY to its normal cruse speed!
So lets say (example only) that a fig can only jump if Sup is upgraded and boost 3 payed for which opens a new tech! (jump tech) and as an (example ONLY) it travels at 100mps when boosting with boost 3 lets say 300mps!<--you know what i mean! but with a Jump button! it would fire u at 1000 mps instantly!!! 2.6 k<----example! but when u exit that jump! u will slow to normal cruse speed but only after another 1k of slowing down!<--------- the reason:: so when u hold your jump key u have to judge how long to hold it for before releasing it!
