Tutorial mission seems to run fine in beta. Managed to steer an int about a bit and tweak the graphics settings in-game as well. So I guess my problem is an R5 issue that's fixed in R6.
So.... any guesses as to a release date for R6?

Hmm soon as in weeks rather than days.

We ran some Beta wednesdays with it that went well. I believe TB is building an installer so we can can distribute it.

Have you tried changing the resolution that Alleg runs on and/or your monitor resolution?

The continued absence of Wyld from Alleg is reason enough to get R6 out the door.

And to HSharp, yes I've been fiddling around with various graphics settings. About the only issue now is that I still can't reach the beta lobby. Well, that and the fact that I can only play beta, but hey-ho.

Can I just clarify some stuff.

The problem happens the moment you try and go full screen as in you can be on main menu and full screen will then quit Allegiance and bring up EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION on ASGS message or do you have to try and do that while flying?

Also can you fill out the template please?

It happens when I enter the a game proper. Using non-beta I can access the lobbies just fine and chat there, but when I enter the game I'm looking at my desktop and ASGS is showing EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. When running R6 beta I can use the tutorial missions just fine, which indicates whatever graphics problem it is doesn't apply to R6, but I can't connect to the beta lobby.
Clarifying edit: The exception_access_violation only occurs in R5 when running fullscreen. When running windowed I can join a game and launch just fine, but I can't fly 'cos the virtual joystick doesn't work in windowed mode.

Template time:
Windows Version (and Service Packs): XP Pro 5.1 Build 2600 SP3
Processor Speed: Intel Core 2 6600 @ 2.4GHz (Two CPUs)
RAM: 3070MB (Odd, I thought this was a 4 gig box...)
Video Card (Make and Model#): Nvidie GeForce 8800 GTX
Sound Card (Make and Model#): SoundBlaster Xi-Fi Audio (CCE0)
Connection Type (Dialup, Cable, DSL, other): Big fat broadband pipe.
Modem (Make and Model#):N/A
Router (Make and Model#): BT Internet white home hub
Internet Service Provider(company name): BT Internet
Location(State/Province/Locality, and Country): Northamptonshire, UK
Installed Mods: None

Make and Version of firewall: Windows firewall. Whatever the OS is providing, basically.
Make and version of anti-virus: AVG Free 9.0.819

Confirm that you have the following installed:

* .Net 2.0 [x] Double-checked. Even uninstalled and reinstalled.

Problem Encountered at Step #: 13, joining a game.
Which Program (ASGS/Allegiance): Allegiance CTD.
What Error Message: ASGS reports EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Comments (What you tried, description, etc):
See pretty much the rest of this thread.

Shoulda done that in the first post. Sorry.

Do you have DirectX 9.0? You probably do but I am clutching at straws here :P . You should be able to get it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...6A-9B6652CD92A3.

Oh one more thing, dunno how tech savvy you are so sorry if this sounds patronising, but this is quite delicate in terms of being able to screw stuff up if you smash your keyboard.

Load up the Registry Editor by running regedit
Expand the folder called HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Expand the folder called SOFTWARE
Expand the folder called Microsoft
Expand the folder called Microsoft Games
Expand the folder called Allegiance
CLICK on 1.0 (no need to expand the folder but you need to click on 1.0)

Then tell me what the values are for CombatFullscreenXSize and CombatFullscreenYSize (under the heading of Data)
