Sorry guys -- it just isn't possible. This is the best possible testing solution that we can offer. We are severely limited by the tools we have. We made the instructions with all of the mentioned issues though, getting into the beta should just be a short series of steps.
QUOTE I hate beta![/quote]I'm sorry that you didn't have a perfect experience, but this is absolutely required. If we don't test this, we won't release it to the community. There are plenty of people that have issues with R5 -- issues that are fixed with this client.

Have issues getting to the beta?

I got that too (after it having worked earlier on Wednesday).
I did delete fileslist.txt in the /beta folder. I was prompted to install an update (by ASGS) which I permitted. Upon connecting, I had another update pushed through (in-game AU). I still got the error. The client reads 10.7.13, not .16 like the MOTD says it should.

try playing beta w/o asgs and see how that works out for ya
EDIT:
ahh i just saw another issue (or the same one?)
- there is a build waiting to be deployed but people are on BETA playing so it will hold up the deployment until the game is finished - which means if you downloaded a build that's not deployed yet then that would explain the error, especially seeing that we JUST CHANGED THE MSGVER AGAIN

These bugs haven't been fixed yet because don't have any developers interested in fixing them up. --Tigereye

The build you tried before 14 July wednesday was replaced.parcival wrote:QUOTE (parcival @ Jul 16 2010, 04:55 PM) I get this when I try to join/create a game:
I can join/create games without problem to R5. Any idea why do I get this?
The current build is different than the one for beta wednesday.
Please PM me if you would like instructions on how to beta test at any given time that is not a wednesday.

Just confirming that using the alternative method (ie as pointed out by the RTFM comment
) does work. Just an observation: I had an earlier version of that method and although AU did kick in, it didn't work - I got the error as pictured above. Also, dl'ing the artwork failed. Retried several times. However, since I already had a previous install of the artwork, I was able to cancel out of that, got prompted for my artwork folder, then installation continued. I was then able to connect to a game.
