When I saw the title "The Rebel Genius". I thought it was another rant about MW.

The majority of people here, myself included, welcome any and all new players to the game. I think you'll find, though, that our concept of "squad" is a little bit bigger than the idea of "clans" in other games -- and much more focused on competing amongst each other in tournaments than just people who hang out and fly together.
There is certainly nothing stopping you from picking a naming convention and working to play together in pick-up games. You'll probably find it pretty hard to recruit new players to form a new squad (there's not a whole lot of unsquadded players worth recruiting) -- but something you might consider is get to know some people from different squads, and merging yourself with one that fits your clan ethic the best.

Aw these grampas and their tales about the old clan wars...
They could still fly together in PUGs, sort of. People from other squads do it, banding together in the same team all the time.
Or, messy as it could be, they could fly with some other squad in squadgames to help making the numbers.

Welcome to Allegiance, if you are serious about playing with your clan I would be glad to help you guys get situated. I am a commander of some infamy (in all senses of the word), and would be willing to help you pick up the game over ventrilo sometime. Skill comes with time, experience, observation, and innate talent however.

Homeworld died because WON sucked arse, and it was a
really good couple of years there for gaming.
And to be honest, the multiplayer game left much to be desired. Combine that with the mod scene fragmenting what few multiplayer people you had, and it was dead at the get-go
EDIT: What other games have you all played?

Hmm....
Thanks for all your input.
I'll defenitly consider everything said here. Though.....I think I am the only RG that thinks Alliegence is our best bet. And it seems the same attitude is reflected here.
Unfortunaly, we can find no other game that would suit our purposes.
After Homeworld died, we moved to Sins of a Solar Empire. A rocky Transistion at best.
In SOASE, is when our situation worsend. Three hour long games are not conducive to a clan enviroment. I even tried modding the game for shorter gameplay.
Eventully the small core left of our great clan finaly realized that we need a new game. And here I am.
I REALLY don't want my clan to die again. But I feel powerless to stop it.

Just beware that starting a squad is no small feat, even though you have some players already, it is not going to be easy. Getting 15 people to turn up is going to be a chore in itself, like others have said, you will need to get the hang of the game first and build up your rep with the community first. This in itself will take months, after that you are going to have to get ten people to show up pretty much every sunday to play squad games ( you need to play three of these games which are at least 10 a side to even qualify to become a squad.
And even if you successfully start your squad off the ground, prepare to be battered by every opponent that you face for a long time. If your people have the stomach for it then i salute you and go ahead. But what is more likely to happen is that this game will break your clan if its already dying.
