By getting on TS, many a vet will think "hmm... a newbie that takes the time to learn about TS, install it, then log on... this guy might be worth my time."
Some others are lonely and need somebody to talk to..

I love it when people make threads that say "Hey newbies, the best part of Alleg is flying with the vets!"

And why the hell don't people ever turn SY on when I'm online?

It was, and then I turned Voob.

First case of an "old" player not pretending to be demigod of allegiance I've seen. Hats off and cheers!

So teamspeak is really where it's at, then? I guess I'll have to get it. My computer is already pushing it to run this though, does teamspeak take up a lot of resources/bandwidth?

Er, apparently I joined in 03. I might have played once in 06, not sure. I seem to get the urge to play, realize I can't pour my life into it, and then swear off it completely... only to come back in a few years because this is the most awesome game ever even if I suck at it and will never be better than a (3), if that.

Not really - the bandwidth is so minimal that RT has members as far afield as turkey and greece on dialup connections that can use it during squad games.

I always though we needed a FunBus with lots of long range, pea shooter turrets to carry newcomers around. :D

So funny, I would actually like to see it. Has to be modeled like a yellow schoolbus though.
