Like anyone will actually use retro booste when they have the option of regular?

Provided the client takes the direction of the jet from the joints in the model, then this could be done. If it only takes the position then it won't work without a code change.

If belts and TF pilots never use retro booster (I sure don't when flying those) then we could just move the booster spot up front for the other ones.

Ooh, here's an idea.

Give TTs high top speed, poor accel and paper hull and let them mount retro boosters. Bad aiming and bad timing and the crew becomes space pancakes.
