We don't offer a torrent because we want to keep control of the installer, particulalry which version is distributed.

Oh and for the record, we're aiming at winning the December vote, so I guess the votes will reset tonight (unless they've started a new vote already). Either way, get into the habit of voting right now!

Erm, what about the antivirus / antifirewall issues? They install Alleg, scream WTF virus and run away telling evil stories how bad Alleg is?

At the end of the day, there's been something like that for the last 5 years. There comes a time when we have to try actively attract new players and hope the take up the support that's offered. Unless you have a fix for the AV issues in the pipeline (I'm more hopeful than optomistic here tbh :) ).

Yes please don't spambot. Our game is great enough we don't need to resort to that, and besides, last time we tried this we got a fair amount of traffic from some of the competing games. It would be nice if those people actually stick around to play and not be pushed off by poor sportsmanship and/or flamefests (beyond regular Alleg behavoir).

Raveen, have you contacted Gamershell already? They agreed to post a new article every time we give them an updated installer to host.

The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.

Now in the Top 20! Hey, if we can keep going at this rate, we might still be able to win November...
