I think the @help tag is a great idea. This was brought up several times in the Alvault right after the game was launched.

I'll volunteer for that tag.

Spidey, do you see some harm in the creation of this?

At the moment when people go to the newbie servers, they are stuck in a very complex sandbox with not much clue on what is going on. If it would be possible to run games for them so that the @help guy would show and explain how a real Alleg game runs... I think it would be a big improvement.

Good to hear. I't not like I'm 100% convinced it's a good idea, but I would like to help out, and this seems like something that could work.

If it's not too much coding work, then it's probably worth doing.

No offense, this idea has been brought up at least 6 times since I have been here. Its a great idea yet never seems to get off the ground, Batman@SRM & I even had a proposal ready for BV about 18 months ago, since he actually was interested in the idea.

I went ahead with writing the proposal with Batman as we had the same sort of first response as here, unfortunately the support dwindled rapidly, then the fateful crash happened with Batman's family, the project eventually came to a halt. I would love to see @Help(or @Teach as it were) re-done and I will offer any help you may require.

Doesn't alter the matter of fact: We need something more than @Alleg to help our newbies.

I am a little lost here. What keeps you from helping newbies without that @help?

The only argument that speaks for this tag is that @help might mean the person wearing the tag is actually competent enough to provide valid information.

I'd be willing to help out anyway that I can.

Here's an observation from one @Alleg who often hunts out the newbie server (or newbie only server) and offers up help: I'm usually greeted with absolute silence. Either most newbies won't read the chat, or can't figure out how to switch to "all". (yeah, I tell 'em how, but I still get silence.)

I'm not opposed to the idea of helpers/greeters/whatever I'm just pointing out that most new players in my experience just want to figure out the game for themselves.
