Weird things happen with computers all the time.
For example, Terralthra's wireless card would cause a BSOD or crash the router every time he visited YouTube. As a physical layer device, it should not give a damn about what kind of data is passing through it. But the fact of the matter is, it did. And he had to replace the miniPCI card with a new one to fix it.
Packet loss on the first hop is usual for wireless connections. Be prepared for a crappy play experience. Or switch to wired.
