Why not give them missiles and normal weapons, too?

Edit/ FYI their scouts can use prox

Make them shorter range and like the old plasgens, spheres of death.

Err...are you saying you think Plas Gens are better than prox? Really?

One scout with prox can singlehandedly stop an entire bomb run. *sarcasm* Prox must be overpowered.

What I am saying is that a nan train dropping plas gens as soon as they enter a camped aleph can clear a (retarded enough) camp.

prox can do the same with a retarded enough camp (see: People who want to boost into the prox trail left by scouts, and even glide directly into it at times). It's not like every weapon in the game doesn't outrange plas gens, and that with prox on the camp as well, you can just eat them alive out of plas gen range, since they aren't moving much at all once they come through.

Hell, a good pilot can actually shoot down the plasgens before they can get close enough to hurt them.

Also.....

what exactly do they shoot (does it use ammo or energy?)

i ask this because if they dont already, then maybe i good idea would be to have them affected by the pw and ew range g.as

Neither, they are just short-lived "probes" that shoot the nearest target in their scan range AFAIK.
