Having highest kills means nothing.

I perform effectively and I rarely ever get any kills. I have gone entire games without ever carrying a weapon other than prox mines. I generally don't get booted for not saving a miner because I'm generally either way too far away to possibly help, or I'm trying to help. I'm not trying to say that I'm great - i will likely ending a large portion of the game in a pod, and I am surprised when I don't have the largest amount of ejects. What I'm saying is that stats are not important. Failing at a mission is better than not trying the mission at all.

guitarism wrote:QUOTE (guitarism @ Sep 15 2008, 08:32 AM) Anytime you don't have a nan and that miner dies, expect a boot. And when you don't get it, you should mutiny the commander and boot him for being a softie.
I prefer mutinying and then booting myself. Though I admit there are times where I'm a single nan watching three miners, I warn the team for five minutes there's an Hvy int rush coming. Five minutes later? Two minute pod ride as the comm demands to know why I failed to D the miners.

On a related note, is there any special way to not end up roadkill when you're nanning against a miner rush?

Ask comm to assign another nan (if three miners) and one or more ints to assist in miner d. When a skilled miner o team is coming, I can assure you that the miner is not the first target, you are. If you have a miner d team like I noted above, immediately take notice of what they attack first. Communicate with fellow nan that you will nan him, and he will nan you (before the attackers arrive) if either is attacked (almost positive one of you will be).

Last but not least....NAN YOUR F%#%# int! If your int dies, you will almost certainly go too. It took me a while to figure this out, in all my voobness, but if I moonlight as battlenanner, there is a good chance that they will never pump one round into my miner because they get caught up dogfighting with the int that's with you, which they can't kill because of the hull being nanned.

One scout with three miners is not miner defense, it's almost a guaranteed pod ride. There a few who can pull it off, but not many.

Also, don't sit still. A scout standing still will be popped in a heart beat. There was a wonderful post that I read when in cadet about scout piloting. I can't remember the name of the thread, but it was choc' full of info about flying a scout in many different scenario's. Maybe someone will post a link. I'm sure it's in the Academy. Something about a "scout guide". Will have to refresh myself with another read over if it's accessible.

PS-What I just posted is based on my own limited experience and things that have been shared with me by elder members of this community. If I have given bad advice, please share corrections so that I, and others can learn from it.
Or, just be a trolling asshat, it's a personal choice! lmao!

Live & learn, that_bloke. The amount of times miners die because wannabe whores boost into the area rather than someone to nan it, is depressing. Don't hold it against MrC who is an alright guy, just nan next time instead. (I'd say that >50% of the time, the guy with top kills isn't the most useful person on the team)

If they are ints, try keeping your shields down so they don't know you're there, and proxing them somehow. Int pilots are prone to rushes of blood to the head.

Scout + no nan = boot.

SB + shields/missles armed = boot

SF + shields/missles armed = boot

Int + scouting = boot

and just sometimes:

usefull player + comm farts and it smells bad = boot

I feel your pain bloke...
Brood is always looking for a reason to boot me...
As for Andon. I prox much too and don't get kills because they don't even HIT the prox.
They just go around it somehow...

PsycH will say "be a real man, use a trackball"
And that's it :)
