While turrets protecting bases would be a nice peice of novelty tech, You can just buy some deployable turrets and scatter them around the base. Its expensive, but it works /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" /> (try it with TF, Duel skycap is just nasty)

Also, this is, as mentioned, covered in tech paths. Extending the current ship variances plays havok on balance, given that you can't make more people for cheaper, like one can in RTSs.

and you wouldnt apply the logic of lower durability ships to the bases, else i would have said "lower mass ships AND BASES"

1) No, you don't know all the weapons because you obviously have not tried to challenge a Rix Dest. (What Aeris said.)
