it was cool, could have been longer, and more accurate though

It was written by a community member here. If he wishes to ID himself publicly, I'll let him do it. He was limited on length from what he told me. I never saw a draft, just the final product today.
But any PR is good PR.

oh wow, it was very professionally written. i guess the limited length explains the shortness, but it says what it needs to say very well in the space given.
but good publicity is always good /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

It was also written by someone who does quasi-regular articles, from the 'XXX, a freelance contributor to the escapist' from what I gather.
I wonder if the person has posted in this thread

Allegiance. BV and TE both apparently got interviewed and are too shy to let you know... they didn't count on me returning just to post about this, though. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
P.S. It's official. It is, in fact, TigerEye, and not Tigereye. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
Ahhhh *cringes*
I hope he has the ability to update that /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
PS: HI ANG! glad you're still farting around

Hi everyone,
I'm happy to say that I was the one who wrote it. My apologies to TE for getting his name wrong, I'll send an email to the editor to see if a correction is possible. Also, my apologies for not getting the historical facts reviewed before it was published. The original article was about 2800 words with much more detail about the game strategy and community improvements, and much less on the actual history of the game. There was much more interview with Mega, TE and BV. I was also able to reach Joel Dehlin and I had a great interview with him but it wasn't completed in time to meet the deadline. There was also a content focus change which reduced all of the strategy portion, and then about 800 words went away in the editing process. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but I'm sorry for a bit of rush job on it. The Escapist team was great to work with.
There were so many people here that should have been interviewed, I'm sorry I couldn't talk to you all.
Everyone I talked to was very gracious and helpful. You guys are the best! /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":iluv:" border="0" alt="wub.gif" />

I have always said this is the greatest game evar...you guys are proving my theory.
/Here's what I posted to thier site:
I have been playing Allegiance since the beta was released in 1999.Before that I had
discovered a game calle "Raider Wars" that was released by IGN.It had a great 3D engine
that really impressed a geek-type like me.When IGN shut down that project, some of the
players suggested that I try Allegiance as it was about to be released.I have been
addicted ever since.Once you get over the learning curve, and get to the real game play
experience, you can't let it go.Any one who is into real military strategy MUST
appreciate this game. The entertainment factor is un-limited.The community is a great
bunch of people. This is a great game that was almost lost in the sea of medeocre
(I think I spelled that correctly)games that don't count for squat compared to
Allegiance. If you bother to try anything new in the future, this is the game. Not
only is it better now that most people have high speed internet connections, but
56k dial-up users can still play it.That testifies to the efficiancy of the code.
Go to
http://www.freeallegiance.org and find out for yourself. Don't worry if you
die alot in your quest for CyberSpace superiority .. you will get there quickly
with all the help the community provides you.The force will guide you to absolute
entertainment!

Awesome work Backus! Tell the Escapist dudes to make Yahtzee review Alleg...he'll probably end up joining XT if he stays around. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
