Mouse + Keyboard
Stick
I use both. Can't let a good Sidewinder rust away can I? /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

I have a mouse that has side scrolling buttons. I mapped shift+right and shift+left to them and now I roll with the mouse. It's pretty nice.

Keyboard + Mouse, heavily remapped.
I'd prefer a joystick, but I don't have one. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I seem to do OK without it though, so I don't miss it too badly.
EDIT: Of course, I use virtual joystick. I can't imagine flying mouse without it. Is there anyone that DOESN'T use the virtual joystick?

I use a joystick. I always think about using mouse + keyboard, but it just doesn't work out. I would need to take months to get used to it and it's just not worth it /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />.

I play Allegiance like an FPS, that is aim with the mouse and WSAD for thrusting. Up and down thrust is mapped to Z and C for ease of access, and everything else that is vital is grouped around WSAD like boosting, dropping prox/probes, Q and E for rolling, etc.
It's possible to be proficient at this game no matter what peripheral you use aside from keyboard only.

I've always used the stick. I think I prefer it because it gives me a sense of realism. If you can have realism in a fictional space combat simulation.

I came over from xwing vs tie fighter; which I used a joystick for. Started playing with joystick and never looked back. I didn't even realize people played with mouses until 2 years after I started playing. Now I use mouse for turreting.
