OK. Did you try connecting to GPZ server? If you did and failed, it is most likely the Symantec thingy... Google on how to ged rid of it.
If you want to replace it with something, I'd suggest NOD32 or Avast!. Both are free and can be downloaded easily.

um ya....

if your running an router, you have to open your ports, or DMZ your computers IP adress

for most routers, to gain acess to it, open network connections, open your connections, propertys, then type in the IP make sure the last diget is a 1

find ports, and open the ports that the program uses to gain acess to the internet.

This is utter BS. Ignore that post yangx. Router will block Alleg only if explicitly told to block specific ports. Otherwise there will be no problem with it. Unless you changed some advanced settings on your router, this is definently not the issue (if you would be able to meddle with those, you would know how to undo it, wouldn't you?).

Dragon, please stop posting without a clue.

Well, damn. OK, maybe someone DID mess with your router's settings. Do you know how to access those?

yeah i know how to do that but if i hold the reset button on the router then it should be set back to factory default plus my laptop is connected to it with a ethernet cable

Yeah, if you hold down the reset for some 10s it will restore factory defaults. If you didin't change anything in the setup (i.e. haven't set up any port forwardng rules, WiFi settings etc), give it a shot. If that doesn't work, go to Applications tab and see if something called 'MSN Gaming Zone' is blocked or not. You don't have to forward any ports.

im currently reinstalling since maybe it has somethinbg to do with the fact that i installed it in my own directory instead of the intended c:/programfiles/microsoftgames/allegiance thingmajig
will tell if that fix the problem since there dont seem to be nothing else messing it up
