So...any further ideas or do I give up on this game?

All .net apps unistalled.
Ran the cleaner.
Reintsalled .net 1.1 and hotfix.
Reinstalled Allegiance.
ASGS still freezes everything.

Pmd Tiger but he has not gotten around to unassociating accounts. I hope it is as simple as him fixing it.

Just to be clear: ASGS freezes just after you start it up or after you type in the login info and try to connect?

ASGS freezes on launch. Not only that but my whole system locks up.

I am able to log in and get through polls, authentication, etc.

It freezes when the Alleg launches then? If so, there seems to be no problem with the ASGS itself then. Have you tried reinstalling Alleg? Preferably from a freshly downloaded install?

I see that in your initial post you did a fresh install. But did you do an uninstall/purge first? It's been a while since you've played, and with the autoupdates that have happened since, I think you've got some errant data that needs to be purged first. Uninstall, then make sure everything is gone... mods, etc. (Or simply re-install to a new directory). You'll then need to download the newest mods again. (Cort UI, etc. as these had to be updated, too when R4 came out)

Just ran a registry cleanup program and this came up. I don't know what it means but I seem to have some ActiveX issues.

Doing what Freebeer said now...again /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> EDIT - No dice.

Also, both .dll files mentioned are in my system32 folder.

hmm... just a thought (it worked for Immz /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />)... Do you have a file in C:\ called "Program" or similar? Kill it.

Found an odd folder in the C:\ directory with no name but a string of random numbers and letters. Opened it up and there were about 15 EULAs in so many languages for .net 2.0 among other things.

Deleted this file.
Ran ASGS and allegiance launched. The hit Freegames and it crashed my computer.

Clean install, system still locks up on launch.

Pfffffff. I'll check in again tomorrow night. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

EDIT: Ran ASGS updater from Alleg Directory. New error message, "Allegiance was unable to launch"

Didn't there used to be a folder called allegiance and one called Free Allegiance?

ALSO - Allegiance Launches fine without ASGS.

The second folder was used for beta of R3, I believe. It's not required. (R4 beta didn't use a separate folder, it used a beta folder under the artwork folder to hold the newer R4 stuff, if I recall correctly.)

I still suspect you've got junk hanging around. Did you completely remove Allegiance and make sure everything was gone? (as opposed to just re-installing over top) I'm not entirely sure that you did that with the Net stuff and the net removal tool. With reboots between each step. Yeah.. I know it's a pain, but rebooting is the only way to ensure that crap loaded into memory is purged.

Honestly, I've done it several times. Truly. The tool did not remove that folder from my C:\ directory. But I suppose I can do it again.

What really gets me is that I can launch Alleg by itself. I can launch ASGS. But ASGS cannot launch Allegiance. That alone tells me this is tied into the linked accounts issue. In fact, when I launch Allegiance by itself and try to get into a free game the callsign comes up as my old ACS com callsign....now where is that tiger?
