Maybe this could be the basis for a new core?
why only 1 carrier? You can use more than one in a sector, just target the one you want to rip to, turn on autopilot and press r.
And there would be problems with that many people in a sector apoch. The server only sends a fixed amount of updates per client. Your target shouldn't jump that much, but everything else will get a lot worse. Also, isn't there still a hard limit in the code that will crash the server if there are 150+ folks in the same spot? A small increase in sector limit should be okay, especially if w0dka's bandwidth patch gets implemented.

I know what you mean ada, it was purely theoretical. Id love to have a large sector. I dont know about the 150 people thing. Im not a coder Ada. All i can do is use ICE and create MDL images /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> after that im pretty wrecked.
Apoch.

I said 1 carrier because people expressed issues about multiple rip points in a sector. If there's a way to choose which one you want to rip to, then great!
I think this would be quite a fun core to play on, and which would bring a variety of new gameplay elements. I imagine cap ship wars would be great fun on a core like this.

Wait... does this imply that if you target someone, they appear less laggy than if you don't?
If so, I'm going to have to change my style. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Frequently, I like to target the things I
can't see, not the ones I can... but if it will make them easier to shoot, that's out the window.

The reasonn I asked about this is that I planned on having somthing such as this for my "Homeworld" core.
I gave it up a while ago when I started getting to busy to really do anything with it. Not to mention I cant get milkshape (my parents would strongly disaprove of me buying software over the net, thinking i dotn REALLY need it) Additionally the way homeworld packs there textures makes it difficult to get all of them (many of the ships share the same segmentsso there folder only contains the ones that differ from the others)
And the turret models are there own seperate objects so those have to be glued to the model as well.
Sounds, and settings I shouldnt have a problem with.
The stragety on homeworld isnt as deep as allegiance... its more rock, paper, scissors
If they use fighters, use corvettes.
If they use corvettes, use capitals.
If they use capitals, use fighters.
The main goal is to destroy the enemys mothership
ALL ships can damage it, some will be better at it than others.
Of course I would need to change alot of the stats to work for allegiance, as well as making it suitable for pick up games.

I reckon it might actually be pretty good, only one ripcord at home area, sometimes the sector business might be alittle weirded out. Most RTS games have only a huge block of land to play around in so why not in this game? plenty of space and lots of generic and helium rocks. It might be a good idea...
Although the fact that Rix can rush bombers and IC and Nix can rush shipyard, maybe it might not be a good idea...

I say: good idea.
