Two more very nice suggestions!
@Newtype:
Can we take the style (colours and the 'aura'), leave the text below as it is and use something more meaningful for the shape? Maybe the letters C, U and I.
My first idea would be something in the direction of badp's suggestion:
(just a sketch, obviously)
Or maybe you have a better idea for the shape. I just like logos that have some relation to what they are representing.
Or, going away from the letters, maybe something that is UI related. Some kind of bar maybe.

Yes, definitely no animated GIF.
As to your submission, maybe the parts of the C could be modeled after the four bars of the default HUD (hull, shield, energy, ammo). Making it recognisable both as the 'C' of 'CortUI' as well as immediately showing that it has something to do with the Allegiance HUD.
A completely new idea:
Maybe something could be done with these small blocks used in the bars of the map view. Maybe design the whole logo using these small blocks. I think that would have a very high recognition value as well.

Awesome, I really like that one. Could you maybea) ... upload a PNG exported version from the PSD?b) ... create a version that's about 150x57 (PNG)? That would be for the installer. Maybe the logo part a bit smaller to the left and the text part to the right? Up to you.c) ... create a 16x16 version (PNG)? Ok, well since I saw this thread I had been doing my own, which I must admit has a striking resemblance to NewType's /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> I like NewType's aswell, I just think it need more "Edge" to it. It looks a bit bubbly-ish.
If you are going with Newtype's and he is too busy so he wants a hand. Let me know, I'm always happy to help.
