Also, did the TOD disable the ability to type during countdown? Because i cant type during countdown.
IIRC this has never been possible. You can type from NOAT during the countdown, but not from playing teams.

There's a similar new feature but that one is to let you type while requesting position in a team. You might be confusing it with that, because you cannot type while in countdown.

That is why AEM was /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
The TOD does not impact chat, so it boils down to some people not wanting to see a few lines of extra text for 15 seconds. Sure a "do not show me tips again" check box could be implemented but that would require programming a check box, editing the image, setting another registry key, etc. Definitely 'doable' but very very low return on programming investment/time.

Unless there's a big hue and cry for this to be disable-able, I'd rather see the dev team devote their time to other things.

What would anyone really gain by being able to stare at nothing but team chat while the game launches?

imho this would only be useful if you could write at the same time the game is starting

I saw a TotD message, it said (or something to this effect) (main part bolded)

QUOTE Many players in Allegiance use controllers and joysticks, some use keyboards, try and avoid using keyboards[/quote]

WTF???

Avoid using keyboards??? I wub my keyboard + mouse combo, never used a joystick for alleg (havent used a joystick/controller since Sega MD controller on mah Amiga for computers). I feel I am a competitive flyer and can hold my own against most pilots, I fail to see how a joystick can make you awesome and why you should avoid using the keyboard.

Now this is not really the place to discuss Keyboard vs Joystick (vs Controller), but it certainly is the place to wonder why this tip is put in place as I fail to see how this is useful advice to anyone at all. Please enlighten me.

It means, use JS and KB or Mouse and KB. Don't steer your ship using the keyboard because you'll suck.

FYI here is the actual text:

Some of the best players in the game fly with a mouse and some fly with a joystick. A couple even fly with controllers. You should avoid using the keyboard to fly.

Probably will be removed whenever this list is updated, only because there is not enough space to adequately cover this tip. It is a little lacking as stated. The list is pretty rough and nearly all tips were gathered from elsewhere. I was counting on having more feedback and have a new longer and better list out by now.
