Just a thought: did you EVER had Norton AV suite installed on your current system install? If so, did you remove it using the tool that the vendor privdes?

I did all the above except for the Norton thing. I learned long ago to stay away from Norton! Norton likes to touch you in naughty places! /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> I even went so far as to mess with remote desktop and all of that with no luck. Everything I try anymore is just a pure shot in the dark.
I have ran as administrator and not. Compatibility set for XP SP2 (with all executables in the folder) and not. Installed the run-times. Disabled user control. Disabled windows firewall (and service, long ago) and Trend Micro's firewall (and Internet Suite). Disabled Windows Defender.
I am not on any freaky connection other than regular dial up (no router, hardware firewall etc.). Only thing I can think of is maybe compatibility with ipv6 type connections (which is new to me with Vista) with a dial up connection and I have no way to really test it that I can think of. I can still get to the lobby fine but I cannot log into a server no matter which server I try.
I can usually figure out comp related problems but, this one has me stumped royally!

admin mode = invalid key woot!

Volfen wrote:QUOTE (Volfen @ Nov 8 2007, 08:29 PM) I have the same problem. I've disabled everything I can think of. My problem started when I installed Vista, not with this update. I had hoped the update would take care of it though. /wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
Thankfully I dual-boot. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
I would dual boot but meh. maybe it will work on virtual pc lol.

There was this commn Invalid Key problem, but I can't seem to remember what it was. Pretty sure that Tech Support Wiki holds the answer though /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

it gets me as far as selecting to connect a server without using the run as admin thing (which is this key tangent thing that we are on). So lets drop that and work on failed ot connect to server.
What is it that Windows Vista is doing that is preventing the client from accessing the servers? The client obviously has access to the internet.
