"One side" Aleph Resonator
This thread really doesn't need to be a discussion of how to implement this. Each core can implement it in a different way. Its more discussion of providing the option. But you don't have to think of Aleph res in terms of how the current aleph res operates either.
Unless this is granted as a faction specific bonus (which seems like a good idea on its own) I think it would be nice to have a one side res that damages, but rarely destroys camping ships. Basically it would weaken the campers before the bomber comes through to give it a better chance. Make them cost about $1000, have a range of 1000m for level 1 of 1,500m for level 2. Have them take away about 1/3 of the hull of a heavy int. Make them load very very slowly so you can really only manage to shoot one per aleph per bomber, though multiple could be fired with more bombers (Phoenix costs per missile should be higher).

I really like AEM's idea. I think having a regular one-sided res would imbalance large games too much. Tactics like turtling while trying to tp2 would no longer be a viable tactic as defenders can expect to get demolished by a one-sided res and have no ability to defend. Allowing a one-sided res to just merely weaken the defenders will keep things interesting while not making the original 2-sector res an obsolete tech.
I would even say go for 1/2 damage to all ships within the 1-sided res's range of 1000m. Make it maim but not kill. Something like that in the defender's arsenal will also make games very interesting. You could weaken an expected bbr attack before they come through an aleph. Fun all around! Would be cool to even allow it to maim capships?

Yeah, AEM -- thanks for the work you are doing. I liked teh idea of having this do partial damage to ships (I would also only partial damage minefields and towers, if possible). A partial one-way res should be an option -- let the core folks decide on if and how to implement it.

Is it/would it be possible to alter the time taken for an aleph res to go off?
Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.
