Say I ... I have this ... "friend" who's a total noob, like ... at making models and stuff. What programs would I ... errr he /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" /> need to start modelling and would you recommend any particular tutorials?

its very good.
its very expensive.

my wallet prefers blender.
more difficult to learn (too many shortcuts), but its completely free.

ive heard that sketchup is good for complete beginners, its useless once you start to improve but its very good for messing about at the beginning, also free.
you cant export with the free version though, and ive heard it locks up with too many vertices.

apparently 3ds studio max is hard for newcomers too, id try out a few free ones to begin with if i were you.

i have 3ds....a *good* friend helped me to it....but inless u have a *good* friend, expect to pay 800$ to 1500$. faaaar to heavy for my purse. and a bitch to learn..ive found its perhaps best to keep it simple. texture mapping ( skins) makes a model. let me give u an example...

my gas Htt

not my best texture job but u get the idea...so learn texturing, models are sweet but without a good skin...there not so good

We only need Giga and IC models first. There will be plenty of time. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And I intend to help at some point
