for the carrier. this one is a lil too much polys i think... 2048.
is the bomber. this one is 257 polies /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> gotta wok on an UVW-map though.

If I wanted to screw around and make some models, not worrying about textures or anything, what program would I use?

I'd suggest Blender. It's free and fairly easy to use. There're lots of websites out there with tutorials and so on too.

I use 3ds max, but it costs alot of money, i don't know about blender, but still 3ds max is my favorite, with milkshape 3d for the MDL files. i am working on more ships now, trying to create a faction. modeling doesnt take that long, but skinning them is a whole different story, and getting them ready for the game with the cvh objects takes also time.

Gmax is a free Modeling program thats nearly Identical to 3DSmax (same company) I think the tutorials are alot less overwhelming. My main issue is finding inspiration. After that's Modeling in those programs is mainly just like solving a jigsaw puzzle except you got a @#(! ton more options to make things fit.
Secondly, some of those ships could be used as models for the Giga Lxy cruiser and the IC Battle Ship.
