Ever thought about just kicking them automatically from the newbie server instead of banning the crap out of people?

I bet it was easier to code the ASGS autoban than to fiddle with Allegiance to make it kick them (with a good reason displayed afterward).

Couldn't you just set the newbie servers to automatically be Novice only?

I mean I thought it was quite clear, that only people bellow rank 7 are allowed (it is clearly stated, that if you are over, than you will be banned for 24 hours WITHOUT warning... )... but I can see from a number of posts, that this is NOT that clear... (or maybe I just have too much time on my hand and read too much.. )

I think the confusion is allways, that although the server name has the word Newbie in it.. it still says, that All levels of players are allowed.. and I think this is what would be the easiest to solve. (making it very clear for everybody).

how about make the ban time:
2* ((rank-8)/22) * 24

8 because its the newbie server cut off rank
22 because its max rank (30) - 8

2 to make the max ban length 2 days

24 to convert it into hours

*60 to convert to mins

basically, if someone who's just lost their tag will get banned for a hour or so, some (30) will get a 2 day ban because they should know better, and its a sliding scale for the in between ranks

Well, could always add to title (4 and lower rank only) for the thick headed individuals. I'm not one to talk though, i've had to glance at the RoC/ToS every now and again as well just to make sure i don't overstep things.........

Thee is currently no way to set the newbie server to Novice Only permanently. The GC will always have the option to set it to whatever skill level he wants.

Maybe in R4 server side skill level will be possible.

Thanks
Thanks Myotis,w0dk4 and GreenHawk and oter to try solving this problem in the futur.
That should be a software limitation : just dont allow people with bad rank to join these servers.

To answer about reading the rules :
I can read on http://asgs.alleg.net/asgsnet/newaccount.aspx, that a warn have to be send before ban,
and theses rules talk about ban vet not inter : so not clear ( my rank jump to 9 very fast : so i dont see clearly that i was int ) : you can read it yourself.

The lesson :
If in futur I have to ban someone, i dont have to send warn... ?
And if something in rules is not clear I just have to say : "you are ignorant ?"

To conclude : I hope you can solve this problem in the futur : with a "warning" or a simple better limitation.

Please be aware that being booted by your team's commander is not the same as being banned by an admin (or in this case the autobanner).

A commander can only boot a newbie in certain circumstances - if they are disrupting the game for example. Before they do so they must warn the newbie first and give the newbie a chance to stop his bad behaviour. A commander can boot any non-newbie for pretty much anything (within reason and certain limits). Once booted you will be unable to rejoin that game under the same name. If you change your name you can log back in and join either team, if you wait for the game to end you can join the new game. You could also join another game.

An admin can ban you from logging in under any nickname for a certain length of time. You will recieve this kind of ban if you break one of the community rules. The Rules of Conduct are located here.

You broke RoC Sup. 6 - You may NOT play on the Newbie Training Server if you are NOT a newbie. Only Free Allegiance Staff and newbies WEARING their newbie tag (defined as a number enclosed in parenthesis generated by the system) are permitted on the Newbie Training Server, unless invited by a staff member to assist in training.

This particular rule breaking is monitored by an automatic system that applies the ban to any non-newbie caught playing on one of the newbie servers.
