I don't know about piloted miner's but a fine improvement to the game will be a ship that can mine , no not miner something with a lower he3 cargo space and able to use med shield or some kind of special shield type. /glare.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":glare:" border="0" alt="glare.gif" />
A utility type ship like giga has in EOR /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> , that could perform base repair duties, probing /deprobing.
Now about the ship it should be able to mount 2 heavy narnite guns for base repair in extreme emergency cases , or 2 mining laser's for he3 mining . The ship should also be able to carry 6-12 EWS probe per rack and 1mini mine caldrop (half the cost, and the diameter but normal mine density and half lifetime) . /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
The $ from a full he3 cargo should be half of a full miner , and the mining laser should be able to inflict some damage to enemy ships (self defense capability ) , such a ship should be found under star base tech and i think at the price of 3-5k per ship(estimative price) and the restriction for only 1-4 of these ships (this will be debated) will have a positive impact on the game play.
Still this is only a suggestion but i do hope u will consider it /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

Well, many pilots are all that smart, who's to tell they won't head through an enemy sector because it's a "shortcut" or right back into the sector with the enemy in it because they need that extra dollop of cash?
And don't forget the pilots who try to dock at the enemy base, and the guys who constantly spam the buy button, because as we all know, the more expensive ships are the better ones. Who wants to fly a Hvy Int for free when you can fly a 4000 dollar miner?!

One of the original designers put it this way:
QUOTE We did not want the players to interact with a (virtual) rock.[/quote]
I agree. Allegiance should be fun. Unless somebody comes up with very interesting rock textures staring at a rock is not fun.
No, that was not a challenge to anybody.

But my point (which, of-course, has also been talked to death) was to be able to have their silly drone AI replaced only when necessary.

i put a billboard on the rock model and then...

ok, the brightness of the billboard is way too high, but that's only because the rock is so dam dark, and i wasn't about to make a fuss over a 5 min job
