NEVER, EVER CARRY A NAN.
It makes you look fat.
Should scouts carry a nan.
As you know I always carry a nan, no matter what, if I do need to engage sometimes il bring along a gat in my cargo to switch to, or I just use prox or missiles to my advantage. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

If you're going out for a TP2 drop, the nan is kind of pointless. You're either going to successfully drop that TP or you're gonna die. An extra prox could help. Yes, like all things in Allegiance, it depends on your situation. You could sit on the TP after it's dropped and nan it, but how often is that going to be useful?
When on a TP2 drop, the nan can become extremely useful. Keep the TP2 probe nanned so it can rip in the last two bombers. Your question about how often it can be useful is like my "Every time I've left the base without nan, I've regretted it." I probably forgot the times I didn't regret it. Thing is, you never know when nanning the probe becomes useful. Also, while on a TP2 run, taking a nan along is not taking space for stuff that you could use otherwise (like missiles or prox mines). So, why not?

That's what I love about this game... there's no easy choices.
If you only take a nan on that TP2 drop, yes... you save yourself a slot by not taking a gat. Fine, but you may have to deprobe before you can set up your drop. You may get away with a single clip of ammo that comes with that gatt or you may need an extra clip, although you can generally determine that before you leave base by pre-planning your route.
Can you out-nan the d is the question. If single figs come in, maybe... depending on their tech level, the quality of your drop, etc. If they are alert, a swarm of figs and ints will overwhelm that nan of yours. Whereas a prox or two dropped in the approach path to the TP may have greater value. Decisions, decisions. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
(For the record... I carry a nan almost always.)

Hey -- on tp2 drops -- i take one nan, one tp2 and rest prox. take disruptor to deprobe with -- u r not dogfighting on that run. Once you drop tp2, get the nan going on it and prox regularly. that extra two seconds the nan gun buys is worth two or three more bbrs ripping in.
It still makes me look fat, tho.

So i'm not the only one who does this ... (Hey, nobody ever find out, not even my team /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> )Gandalf2 wrote:QUOTE (Gandalf2 @ Feb 23 2007, 11:33 PM) But even if you don't have one, pretend you do! Anyway..i always bring a nan. You can never know when it will be useful, and it can be more important than a couple of missiles or a proxy.
I think you are only excused when you are nix...

Master of probe-killing! (but not of probe-spotting)

Related story:
Just the other day I watched SEVEN figs launch and then watched the miner die. A single nan could've saved that miner. Just one. There were also some bombruns without nans, regardless of the orders being sent out for them. Always bringing a nan on a scout doesn't matter all that much if people never fly them.
To say the same thing over again:
I've been doing a particularly large amount of miner hunting in a scout lately, and when I do so, I've never gone "Damn, I wish I had a nan." I go: "MISSLES! MISSLES! EAT DUMBS! AHAHAHAHAH!" And then Aarm pods me. But them's the breaks. If you disagree, you've probably never tried to solo a miner in a scout... or at least, never succeeded. But that only matters if you're hunting miners. If you never hunt miners or camp alephs... then sure, always bring a nan. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
