CPs idea could work. with the capsule drive on the tac scout it has a mass of 2. so why not just make the tac scout's mass 2, and make the booster have 0 mass. that way it still works as designed, and if you put it on another ship it doesnt help or hurt it.

Lexusbeat and I once gave an enemy miner 48 KB, using tacscouts. That was great fun.
Jousting in tac scouts is also a giggle. Go out to 5k, aim... boost. If you hit, `4! If not, you fail.
