if you come out of AP to boosters, then let off, sometimes the bounce out of AP will drop your speed a little. I've noticed it there.

i usually pound the forward thrust when i boost, so I cant exactly say much.

I too have noticed this and never realized it was a bug, never really thought about and started instinctively hittnig full throttle while boosting...

Goth also mentioned the far more annoying AP drop. Cost me an HTT in a game today, I was in the middle of ripcording and pressed in a VC and my autopilot aborted WTF!!! ripcording after bomb run press f3 to check for pods and battle field disposition (did bbr D clean up nme and leave any tech) and ripcord aborts. AP aborts at just about everything i do, its gotten to the point where i have to treat it like a spoiled child and even gave her a name (Harriet, but more frequently referred to b****) .

I can deal with throttle drop- tho its annoying, but fix Harriet for Mjolnir's sake...

The autopilot aborting does not seem to happen when I do anything. I cannot isolate any condition where it happens more frequently than other times; however there is no way I can move my mouse without touching it, my autopilot turns off a lot when i simply push f3 while on autopilot, it happens very frequently while I am in a pod, as usually when I get podded I immediately push f3 since there is no point in being in first person view any longer. My automatic autopilot to base is terminated simply for pushing f3, and with bios my pod's ripcord sequence is aborted(Although it does not ONLY happen in a pod). The only semi helpful thing I can think of is that it seems to happen more when I push f3 for the first time after undocking and engaging autopilot(not necessarily immediately), subsequent uses of f3 rarely seem to disrupt it (I can't remember clearly if any second+ uses of f3 after undocking disrupt the autopilot, in fact... I will try to observe it in game)

Same for me, always been this way. Ive just come to live with it, but it is annoying. Scenario (belter scout probing enemy sector) I'm at 100% throttle and gothmog see's me in his fig. Thinking he has skillz or sumtin he chases me, I apply my boosters (bearing in mind my throttle prior to boosting is set at 100%), I run through 1st pack of fuel and reload second. In the interim while reloading fuel cells ship comes off boost and is on throttle alone, (bearing in mind throttle was set to 100%) now my throttle is at 1/3. I have to re raise throttle via + key to get it back up to fulll speed again.

P.s gothmog never catches me i drop and ews probe in his path and he dies and I come back and rape his 10 kb =)...

[necro]Just reading up on boosters, is this ever going to be fixed?[/necro]

I have only ever dropped off from 100% throttle when disrupting autopilot. I always assumed it was because the autopilot assigned a proportion of your thrust to the side thrusters to assist in turning.

Throttle reduced after boosting only occured if I had started boosting while on autopilot - effectively the same scenario.

both of the conditions mentioned happen to me regularly. nothing more embarrassing than suddenly realizing you are not moving 'cause AP turned off, esp in a SG. The boosting thing happens to me, but I compensate by using increase thrust as my main thrust key (held while boosting as well).

It seems that if throttle is even slightly below 100% then the ship will automatically compensate for higher speeds by using the front thruster to slow you. Makes sense, but combined with this glitch it can lead to some bad situations.
Example: try ramming a bomber going at about 98% throttle. Instead of cruising along at around 100mps its speed will drop straight back down a second or so after you hit it. I see that one a lot. Even worse when pilot doesn't read chat or understand what 'throttle up' means.
