I followed the sparse information about Allegiance on the gaming sites through the betas, but didn't purchase and play the game until the first month it came out.

I almost didn't do it either. At the time I was like "Microsoft making a video game........LOL!"

But the player feedback was very positive and the game was only 40 bucks, so I said what the hell.

BTW, the AZ squad support I thought was really cool. It was like sports rankings that I actually cared about /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

I started late closed beta, but didn't get alot of time in until open beta.

Went to the AZ after that with a bunch of friends who eventually went to DAOC and sucked me in there as well a few years later.

Open beta, but a crappy modem connection kept me from playing much.
Then AZ, paid, really into it for a few months, but again crappy modem link just killed me. Took a break, then started it up again 1 month before they turned off the AZ and started FAZ. I remember the conversion patch taking ages to download, must have taken half a dozen times for it actually to complete. Again a lousy modem link just made it too painful to play. Then I rediscovered it about 3 years ago /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

Open Beta.
Then played in the Zone, was in GB back with the old folks like Maverick and DexSolo.
Stopped when it got unplayable whick was some time after the Zoen became free i think ( and lag got unbearable ).
My most remarkable memory was a zone game that lasted for over 20 hours. Started at somethink like 9pm CET and was still going when i logged in at 2pm the next day. /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />
Rediscovered game some years after, left because of asshattery, returned, left again, returned.

I read about it in a business magazine. It was some side section of the magazine about technology. I bought it that day. Luckily I was also involved in the pilot program for the shiny new cable modem system Comcast was installing in West Virginia. Oh the joy of being one of 1000 people on a system built to handles 100,000's! I played on the Zone.

Anyway, the reason for my post is when was the closed beta? When did open beta start? What month/year did it go 'live'? I could have sworn I started playing in the spring of 2000, but I wasn't in beta.

An open public Beta was up sometime towards the middle/end of December '99 (AFAIK remember) and ran until just prior to Gold release in the spring of 2000 (April)

I don't recall if I applied for beta personally or if they just sent me an invite in the form of a beta cd due to me being on various press lists.

I don't have the cd anymore unfortunately, that was lost in the last move :(

Even then I was under the name of BeaerSidhe. Between then and now I have taken a couple breaks.

No, I remember the open beta launching in early 2000 (february?)

I remember playing for a few weeks/months with the closed dudes before they opened it up.
