There must be a bug somewhere in the code. I'm trying to have the ship turn itself in the new training mission for R4. And I'm having problems where the screen just goes black, like they are describing when the ship is supposed to turn. It does it frequently but doesn't seem to do it all the time. I could take a look into this but I'm a little doubtful I'll be able to find the problem.
My mistake. I guess its yet another (mostly) ATI issue. I mistook it for a bug at first because I had never experienced this before but I in fact did upgrade to the Catalyst drivers a month or two ago. After hours of trying to find out what was wrong in the code I finally moved my exe over to my nvidia PC and everything was still working so I looked at the graphics card again. It looks like those having trouble are running ATI cards. My ATI Catalyst drivers had "Wait for vertical refresh" set to off. It must be on one of the three other settings for you to not get a black screen when a training mission moves your ship for you. I moved my setting up one notch to "Off, unless application specifies". KB article?
Edit: I ran into this again and bumped it up "On, unless application specifies" and haven't had a problem since..

Ooo, nice find. I'll investigate further sice I have an ATI card myself.
Meanwhile, arccos, could you give us your Catalyst driver version (found from the control panel itself, Information page), any custom settings you've forced on (Antialiasing, Anisotropic Filtering (HQ AF), Vertical Refresh, Catalyst AI etc?

This bug is still happening. I played Allegiance when it was new, saw the box on the shelf and decided to check it out again. Nice to see the community around it.
Anyway I can't run training, at various places the screen goes black but I hear sound still.
PC
AMD 64 3200+
2GB RAM
Windows xp SP2
ATI Radeon x1600pro 512mb
running the newest ati catalyst 7.6 drivers.
I will keep looking into things, this would be a good game to get back into again.

In all seriousness, the current training missions are quite outdated. New ones are in the pipeline however.
For now, just hit the Academy's crash course, head to the newbie server and get your controls down and then go to the main server and jump in. Oh, and join up for the next cadet session /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
