When playing Allegiance, I alt+tabbed to another window. Big mistake. Now whenever I try to play, generally clicking in game on any kind of button causes Allegiance to lose focus to the Desktop (effectively minimizing the game).
Often I'll see at the top of the window the standard Windows icons: minimize, make into a window, close. I can hit the "make into a window" button and these icons disappear.
I've tried running the game in Windowed mode w/ 16-bit color. The first time, it worked for a moment -- started in windowed mode, but then it quickly jumped into fullscreen, and then worked as before. I quit out and tried to run in windowed mode again, but it doesn't even start windowed anymore (or, it looks like it might be trying, but it quickly goes to fullscreen).
I'm just starting to get into this game. Seems very cool. I would hate to have to stop playing it at this point where it's still so new and interesting. Any help you can provide is most appreciated.

You should use a higher desktop resolution than 800x600? /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />dugwyler wrote:QUOTE (dugwyler @ Mar 23 2007, 03:25 PM) Often I'll see at the top of the window the standard Windows icons: minimize, make into a window, close. The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.

I would prefer fullscreen. I've just been trying windowed mode because I thought that as a window it wouldn't lose focus every time I clicked. Instead it just reverts to fullscreen.
Strangely, it looks like it now works in windowed mode.
However, it would be a pain to have to always switch my color settings every time I want to play.
Strangely, when it flashes back to the desktop, it looks like Allegiance itself doesn't lose focus (in the taskbar, it's the "selected"/darkened item) ... yet it's still minimizing for some reason.
I wished all to hell I hadn't ever tried to alt+tab. Being originally an MS app you'd think it would be Win-OS friendly ...

I experienced something similar the other day. The culprit in my case turned out to be an Adobe Photoshop saving dialog that was open. It went away when i closed that dialog.
Hope that helps in tracking this down.

current version r158 new beta as of jan 23 2012Fortunately the download isn't too long. I'll give this a shot. Hopefully the information about the window isn't stored in a registry key that won't be deleted by an uninstall.ImmortalZ wrote:QUOTE (ImmortalZ @ Mar 25 2007, 09:25 AM) You could try a reinstall. I'm kinda stumped. First time I've encountered this.
